Mark that calendar for Saturday and Sunday, September 17th and 18th. A weekend without peers anywhere in Southeast Michigan. Starting Saturday, September 17, the Livonia Chamber of Commerce and Parks and Recreation sponsor Love Livonia redux at Ford Field with music, food trucks, and adult beverages. Check out this link for all the details.
On Sunday head on over to Greenmead for the Inaugural Tour de Livonia with two bike routes throughout our hometown. 17 miles on one route and 7 miles on another. It starts and stops at Greenmead. Sponsored by Livonia Police Department, AlphaUSA, Healthy Livonia, F&PA, and Livonia Parks and Recreation. Proceeds benefit our Livonia Kids and Families. Check out this link for all the details.
The Tour de Livonia ends back up at Greenmead for the 5th Annual, you read that right, 5th Annual Livonia Good Old-Fashioned Neighborhood Corn Roast. This year starts at 11:00 and ends at 3:00.
Corn has been ordered up from Westborn for the 5th year in a row, the Livonia Rotary AM Club will again provide beverages and Councilman Jim Jolly is once again sponsoring the Kona Ice Truck. Arrangements are being made to again mail an invitation to the 5,000 new residents moving into Livonia this year.
If your non-profit group would like to set up and be a part of this outstanding day drop the typewriter a note and let me know. More details to come in the next week.

Election Day is Tuesday, August 2nd and with that in mind, a tremendous resource has been compiled by Vote.Run.Serve a NON-PARTISAN news source designed to provide you with information that you can evaluate for yourself. They do not endorse any candidates but will actively work to make it easier for you to learn the names of candidates, especially with so many new districts in Livonia.
Please note that primary elections are partisan. You do not have to identify with a party to vote for its candidates but you can only vote for candidates running as either Republican or Democrat. That means you cannot vote for a Democratic candidate for Congress and vote for a Republican gubernatorial candidate.
Vote.Run.Serve is a local news source run by resident volunteers to help share information about Livonia's government and community activities. Check it out and give them a Friend boost.
Thank you, Vote. Run. Serve for the Facebook postings that are current and topical, ranging from community calendars to non-partisan election updates. Brian Weiss and Carrie Budzinski are to be thanked for providing this information and Musings is happy to share the information in this issue they have compiled. Keep up the good work Brian and Carrie.

On Monday Musings will introduce five special people and one organization whom you may know but we will put their stories into a special light

Growth Works CEO shares the importance of equity and diversity
|
June put the spotlight on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), and as we step into a new month, we want to remind everyone the importance of celebrating and recognizing DEI every day. It is a part of the core values and mission of the Agency, and our team works hard to share them with the community!
Keeping reading for updates on the Agency and a message from our CEO:
“Growth Works celebrated Diversity, Equity and Inclusion last month by recognizing Juneteenth and Pride Month! As an organization, we embrace our diversity at Growth Works and amongst our clients, as something special and unique. As we live out our mission of helping individuals and families restore hope, embrace change and improve their lives, we hope that you’ll help us continue our efforts to create a diversified, inclusive and equitable community for everyone.”
-Nick Griswold, CEO
"It is time for parents to teach young people early on that in diversity, there is beauty, and there is strength."
– Maya Angelou
