With the primary election right around the corner, August 2nd, this typewriter wanted to share endorsements of those in a primary election with compeitition.
Livonia stands a real opportunity to have a strong 1-2 punch in Lansing with two strong state senators, Dayna Polehanki in District 5, which is southwest Livonia, Canton, Westland, Garden City and Inkster, and Vicki Barnett in District 6, which includes most of Livonia, part of Redford, Farmington and Farmington Hills.
For Congress in the Democratic primary, which should decide the election as the district is overwhelmingly Democratic, the typewriter comes down solidly on the side of Rashida Tlaib.
Reasons why these three candidates have been endorsed are listed in the copy provided in the rest of Musings. I feel strongly that Livonia, despite moving into a new redistricting stands to gain with 3 State Reprsentatives and 2 State Senators.
The strongest state representative candidates are Laurie Pohutsky and Matt Koleszar. In our third state representative district I make no endorsement but if I lived in the southeast corner of Livonia I would vote for State Representative Stephanie Young.
These endorsements represent my views after discussions with dozens of Livonia residents. But the only vote that matters is yours.
You vote, even for a candidate I am not supporting, I will be happy because you are helping make the democratic process work.
