Livonia stands tall in
support of the Annual
St. Baldrick's Shave-A-Thon.
This year the milestone of $1,000,000 will be hit.
Join in to have some fun – and be a hero for kids with cancer!
Matt Kulacki, chair of this year's Shave-a-thon explains the need for Livonia to stand tall this year in support of the fight against pediatric cancer, helping raise the $1,000,000th over the past 10 years. "During the pandemic, kids were still being diagnosed with cancer, but donations to support research have been down drastically. We can change that – and save lives!

"We can help the biggest non-government funder of childhood cancer research grants do more to speed up the search for cures."
So whether you decide to shave your head at the Shave-a-thon on Sunday, September 25th at the One Under from 12-5, volunteer to raise money another way, or make a donation, please join in to give kids with cancer the long, healthy lives they deserve.

Join Trinity House for all or part of the day, Saturday, September 10th!
All events for the 40th Anniversary Celebration will take place at Trinity House (rain or shine): 38840 W. Six Mile Rd.
Open House/Picnic – 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm
This will be a time to renew friendships, “tour” the theater, play theater trivia games, view a slide presentation covering the 40-year history of the theater…. and eat!
There is no cost to attend the Open House, but please RSVP if you are able to attend (so we have a count for food): [email protected] OR text or call 313-575-1292.
Trinity House – the first forty years: a program of reflection, drama, and music
Founder Paul Patton and President of the Board Bill Keith will emcee a program that will feature excerpts from some of the theatrical productions that have occurred at Trinity House and musical numbers from a few of our favorite performers, including Matt Watroba and Amy Petty. There will also be time for attendees to share a favorite theater memory or two. And there will be anniversary pie and cake!!
In order to accommodate more attendees, there will be two performance times.
Early Show: 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm
Late Show: 8:30 pm – 10:00 pm
There is NO COST to attend the show but tickets need to be reserved online.

Touch A Truck August 27 @ Greenmead
The Churchill HS Interact club with the assistance of the Livonia AM Rotary Club, is hosting the annual Touch A Truck, which is a hands-on family event that provides a unique opportunity for children and adults alike to explore vehicles of all types including public service, emergency, utility, construction, landscaping, transportation, delivery, and just plain awesome – all in one place.

At Touch-a-truck families will be able to check out a race car and chat up the driver.
While you are on-site be sure to pick up your Mattel Hot Wheels with each child able to take home one to enhance their memory of a fun day at Greenmead.
Community volunteers have offered to help the typewriter pass out the Hot Wheels: Jim Baringhaus, Madeline Acosta, Brandon McCullough, Kate Shishkovsky, Liz Jarvis, Cathy Karasinski, Barb Iovan, Glenn Anderson, Terry Marecki, Kellie Whitlock, Mary Cavanagh. Laurie Pohutsky, the bodyguard, Amazon Fulfillment Center.
Kids can blast horns and sirens, climb onto construction equipment, and learn how the equipment operates, all up close and hands-on. Children are encouraged to touch their favorite vehicles, get behind the wheel, and meet the people who help to build, protect and serve our community.
In consideration of visitors who are sensitive to loud noises, Touch a Truck offers “quiet time” from 8:30 AM - 10:30 AM. During those two hours, we will ask participants to refrain from sounding horns, sirens, and the like.

Non-partisan chool board election on same ballot as partisan November election
Six candidates are running for Livonia School Board: Incumbents Colleen Burton, Mark Johnson, Liz Jarvis. Challengers Reina Vendramini, Jeffrey Ferguson, Pam Morgan, Emily Keith.
As information about the candidates come available it will be shared in Musings.

St. Elmo is one of Colorado's best-preserved and also most popular ghost towns. It is on the National Register of Historic Places.
This magical town feels like you are in an Old West film, only it's totally abandoned. Walk down the dusty Main Street and past wooden stores. Tip your hat at the old saloon.
St. Elmo was founded in 1880 for its natural gold and silver resources, and it grew popular, housing nearly 2,000 people. It thrived until the early '20s when the railroad shut down, and people began moving out.

A visit to South Park City |
No, this isn’t the South Park with the funny TV show. But it is where the creators of the South Park cartoon show were raised.
South Park City, located in the city of Fairplay, has been restored and turned into an open-air museum, which you can walk through to learn about the area’s history.
Stroll through 44 authentic buildings, from frontier homes to businesses, including seven on their original sites.
Look at the mining memorabilia (more than 60,000 artifacts), and get up close and personal with a piece of the past.

This photo sums our family trip to Italy: Refreshing, historical, with the whole Family.
We rented a villa with pool somewhere in Tuscany near Siena. Our nearest hilltop town was called Cortona. Cobbled streets, plenty of cappuccino cafes and pizza. Italy is hot and dry making the ascending sidewalks a challenge for anyone 70 and over, yet, great exercise for anyone 70 and under.
Mary and I relished watching our young family experience a new culture, a different language and tasting Italian food the way it should taste.
In short, it was well worth doubling our credit card debt. (Check out our Go Fund Me page.)
Christopher was our tour guide keeping us on schedule; Andrea (Arabia) Nazelli polished her Italian; Gabe finally started to appreciate the art of people-watching; and Noah was happy making product comparisons between American and Italian soft drinks.

Among the highlights was Swiming in a perfectly round volcanic crater partly emerging from the Atlantic Ocean, filed with crystal-clear water and colorful fish.
One day included a hiking trip to Lagoa do congro. A fresh water lagoon formed in an explosion crater.
The highlight for the typewriter in reading their trip postings was a tour and tasting at the Gorreana Tea Factory which is a family run tea plantation.

St Priscilla Charity Classic Car Show
Saturday, August 27, 2022, 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM
The car show is hosted by Knights of Columbus Council #13731. Donations for the event go to several Catholic charities.
-Registration is the day of the car show from 8 am-11 am
-$20 per vehicle (includes a hamburger or hot dog, chips, and a beverage), spacious show spots on grass.
-Judging from 12-2 pm with trophies at 3 pm (Unique trophies made from car parts!)
-Categories: Best Ford, Best GM, Best Mopar, Best Foreign, Best Hot Rod, Best Sports Car, Best Orphan Car, Best Truck, and Best of Show
