The Livonia Board of Education campaign is starting to gain some steam. With four incumbents, Tammy Bonifield, Crystal Frank, Dan Centers and Karen Bradford being challenged by Madeline Acosta and Nicole Hoskins-Goudreau it shapes up to be, in normal years, an interesting campaign.
But running for school board in a Presidential election year makes it more difficult and potentially more expensive.
Madeline Acosta has started early with a website up and running, acosta4lps.com, and yard signs already in circulation.
The four incumbents, Bonifield, Frank, Centers and Bradford do not have yard signs or web site yet but have taken the first step of any campaign, lining up major endorsements from the community including:
From the School Board and administration, current and former:
Mark Johnson - Livonia School Board President Colleen Burton - Livonia School Board VP
Liz Jarvis - Livonia School Board Trustee Randy Roulier - Former School Board Trustee
Dianne Laura - Former School Board Trustee
Dr. Randy Liepa - Superintendent, Wayne County RESA
From the Michigan Legislature and County Commission:
Michigan Senator Dayna Polehanki Terry Marecki - Wayne County Commissioner
Livonia City officials, former and current:
Maureen Miller Brosnan, Mayor Dennis Wright - Former Mayor Lynda Scheel - Treasurer
Kathleen McIntyre - President, Livonia City Council Jim Jolly - Livonia City Council
Brandon Kritzman - Former Livonia City Council Brandon McCullough - Livonia City Council
Bonfield, Frank, Centers and Bradford are running as a team so expect a lot of joint efforts from signs to literature.
