August 26, 2022 When we are not limited, we all thrive

Touch-a-truck tomorrow. This kid can't wait. Can you?

The Livonia Rotary AM Club and their partner the Clarenceville Interact Club are expecting two helicopters, a flyover by a B17 WWII bomber, two Wayne County police horses, and a Grand Prix Race Car with a professional driver who be on hand to see that kids can reach out and touch this race car and have all their questions answered, the world's largest drivable Tonka truck, and 50 plus vehicles.

In addition, Mattel Hot Wheels, sponsored by the Anonymous Community Benefactor, will be passed out by volunteers to the first 2,000 children arriving with their families to marvel at the fifty-plus vehicles on display.

Another partnership sponsored by another Anonymous Community Benefactor brought together Livonia Kids and Family-Churchill Interact-Livonia Save Our Youth Coalition-First Responders Foundation, to provide 2,000 Coloring Books to go along with the 2,000 Mattel Hot Wheels being distributed this Saturday at the Annual Touch-a-Truck.

Stop by and say hello to the typewriter and the volunteers who came on board in partnership with FridayMusings, helping pass out the Hot Wheels and Coloring Books. When you see a Rotarian or an Interact Club member say thank you. They have put in countless hours to make this annual event such a huge success.

Gotta love meeting more good Livonia folks.

Livonia has a giving Community Foundation

Meet four leaders making it happen

He is a past honorary chair of the National Kidney Foundation Zoo Walk, a current Board of Directors member and past president of the Plymouth Road Development Authority, President of the Livonia Community Foundation, Director of the Livonia Chamber of Commerce, and currently serves on the University of Michigan Engineering Alumni Board. In 2021, he assumed an additional role as OHM Advisors’ Chairman of the Board.

"Advancing Communities is a direct hit for me. It’s why I do what I do. To be at the planning table with a public or private community and have the opportunity to help them create, shape and carve their vision into something living, well into the future? It’s simply exciting."

Charlie Mahoney is President of Four-M Associates, a Community Outreach Consulting Firm in Livonia, as well as a retired Regional Manager for DTE Energy. She serves as current Board member and chair of the Southeast Michigan Community Alliance (SEMCA) Michigan Works! Workforce Development Board. Terry Marecki is chair of the Committee on Public Services and serves on the committees of Health and Human Services and Ways and Means. She also serves on the Special Committee of the Criminal Justice Complex. She was first elected in November 2014 to represent the Wayne County Commission's 9th District, which covers the city of Northville, Northville Township and most of the city of Livonia.

The lifelong Livonia resident graduated from Bentley High School and Madonna University with a Bachelor of Science degree in dietetics. She is a registered dietitian who worked at the University of Cincinnati and University of Michigan medical centers in the cardiac surgery and rehabilitation departments.

She has volunteered for years in her hometown and is active with the Livonia Community Foundation, Livonia Prayer Breakfast Committee, Community Opportunity Center Advisory Board, the Livonia Public Schools Education Foundation as an honorary board member, and as a trustee on the Madonna University Committee on Planning and Mission Effectiveness.

Moms demand action gearing up for November

Renay Weiss-Stansell offers "Thanks to everyone who came out to our Moms Demand Action meeting tonight! We heard from many gun sense candidates and others running for school boards. We have lots of work to do before November to help elect those that support gun safety laws."

Moms Demand Action is a grassroots movement of Americans fighting for public safety measures that can protect people from gun violence.
