September continues to define Livonia Quality of Life

Mayoral Ball, Clarenceville Education Foundation Golf, Library Family Night

Livonia starts the transition from summer to fall with three reasons our hometown continues to define the quality of life, defining with a number of activities aimed to enhance a sense of small-town hometown neighborliness.

Families came out to enjoy a movie at our public library, sitting out under the stars with children and adults having fun all around. This is another great way to showcase Livonia as a family-friendly hometown.

Elected, appointed and business leaders (3 pictured left) joined in for the re-establishment of the Livonia Mayoral Ball, now in its second renewed year, hosted by Mayor Maureen Miller Brosnan at the Italian American Club. Folks came out to celebrate the vision of a progressive Livonia moving forward toward our 75th year as a city in 2025 and our 200th year as a Township in 2035. You gotta love Livonia networking. It is a great way to build coalitions to get things done.

104 golfers (some pictured left) showed up, a sell-out, for the annual Clarenceville Education Foundation Golf Outing, raising money for the oldest school district in Michigan. Whispering Willows golf course was the perfect place to showcase two things. First, just how fortunate we are in Livonia to have three quality golf courses adding to the open space Livonia is known for with 65 parks. Second, how fortunate Livonia is to have two excellent school districts, both with the support of our community. This was a great way to showcase support for educational excellence while highlighting the availability of Livonia recreational opportunities.

You gotta Love Livonia. This weekend showcased three reasons why.

The first weekend of Fall, almost, brings us more Livonia quality of life

Party celebration, Corn roast neighborliness, Biking exploration

Livonia neighbors can get together for the Second Annual Love Livonia Party with live music Saturday night, September 17th at Ford Field. And come out Sunday the 18th for the First Annual Tour de Livonia, with over 300 bikers registered, starting at Bicentennial Park. When that is finished, either the 20 or 6-mile route, depending on your biking skillset, come on over, also at Bicentennial Park for the 5th Annual Good Old-Fashioned Neighborhood Corn Roast starting at noon.

You gotta Livonia Livonia. This is another weekend to showcase why.

Meet up with many organizations at the

neighborhood corn roast September 18

Neighbor Two Doors, Cathy and Jerry Karasinski, I am guessing, left this pair of socks in my mailbox as if I needed a reminder that this weekend will bring Livonia the 5th Annual Good Old Fashioned Neighborhood Corn Roast.

No reminder needed but yes, I will wear these at the Corn Roast. Thank you, Cathy and Jerry. Actually, I should be crediting Cathy.

This year we have some great Livonia organizations continuing the tradition of meeting and greeting Livonia residents.

Service Clubs will be on hand including the Rotary AM, Livonia Lions, Livonia Kiwanis, Livonia Jaycees, and ABWA.

Want to learn more about Livonia theatre opportunities you can find out from the Motor City Youth Theatre, Barefoot Productions, and Livonia Community Theatre.

The Livonia Civic Chorus and Livonia Symphony Orchestra will be on hand along with the Livonia Youth Symphony and Livonia Youth Choir.

PFLAG will be joining us.

Several City departments and commissions will be setting up including our Livonia Public Library and the Greenleaf Commission.

In addition, you will be able to meet up with Seedlings Braille Books, Blessings in a Backpack, Mi Works Matters, and St. Baldrick's Pediatric Cancer Shave-a-thon.

The Livonia Equity & Anti-Racism Network will be introducing themselves to the community.

If you want to learn a little about our Livonia history stop by and meet the Livonia Historical Society or want to learn about the Michigan Treasure Hunters then this is the place to be.

The Livonia Democratic Club is ready to meet corn roast attendees.

Our schools will be represented by the Livonia PTSA Council and the Livonia Education Foundation. And yes our Livonia Community Foundation.

Two of our Livonia faith community are joining us as well, Rosedale Presbyterian Church and St. Matthews Methodist Church.

Honorary Corn Roasters have fun

A number of community leaders have stepped up to volunteer as Honorary Corn Roasters, meaning they will be on hand to help the Lions pass out the corn to the 1,500, maybe 2,000, or so neighbors out enjoying a pleasant afternoon.

Others are on board as we work on timing.
