TrinityElite Helps Prepare Community for the

September 25th Healthy Livonia 5K

Dan Wolocko is the director of TrinityElite (formerly MercyElite). TrinityElite is a trusted

source of sports, health and wellness in Livonia and across the greater southeast

Michigan community. Wolocko recently spoke with Friday Musings to discuss the

services TrinityElite provides, it’s role in the Healthy Livonia 5K being held on Sunday, September 25, and how the community should prepare for the race.

Q: What can participants of the Healthy Livonia 5K do to ensure they are prepared for the day of the race?

Wolocko: Race-day preparation should begin the night before the race. Have dinner, let your stomach rest, and avoid eating anything else the rest of the night. Be sure to get a good night’s rest and drink plenty of water, both the night before and the morning of the

race. Wake up a couple hours beforehand to begin hydrating. It’s also good to eat a nutritious breakfast that morning, which could include eggs, chicken, steak, anything that is whole and full of protein. Both walkers and runners are welcome at this 5K event. If you are planning to participate as a runner, you’ll want to begin jogging at a pace that is best for you. Run fast when you can, but if you need to slow down and to a walking pace, do that, too.

Q: How does a 5K benefit one's health physically and mentally?

Wolocko: A 5K isn’t just an individual sporting event — it’s also about the group of people you are surrounded by. Supporters will be out in mass on race day, supporting participants and cheering on them on. With this 5K, participants will benefit from the sense of community and support, which is a huge boost for one’s mental health. It’s no secret running and walking are among the best forms of cardio so, from a physical standpoint, a 5K race is another chance to get better, burn calories, get your heart pumping and get one step closer to your health, wellness and fitness goals.

Q: Tell us about TrinityElite's partnership with Healthy Livonia.

Wolocko: TrinityElite’s motto is “Train the athlete in you,” and when it comes to athleticism, we go by the three C’s, which are Competence, Confidence, and Contribution. Thanks to

our partnership with Healthy Livonia, we assist local community athletes participating in the 5k to get the most from the event, as well as from themselves. Athleticism leads to improved confidence and competency, which increases our collective ability to contribute and improve the community. From TrinityElite’s perspective, it’s all about

connecting our community with health, wellness, and fitness performance resources to help improve our communities.

Q: What services does TrinityElite provide that people may not know about, and where can we learn more about TrinityElite's services and programs?

Wolocko: We specialize in something no one else does in the area — athletic development. There are gaps in athletic development no matter how experienced you are. We evaluate and diagnose those gaps in each athlete and work with you towards filling in those gaps. We are our region’s most trusted source for sports health and

wellness, specializing in comprehensive and individualized care.

The best way to access our services is to call our Care Coordinator Center at 734-655-8240 or visit our website, TrinityEliteMI.org, and complete our request form so we can promptly follow up with you.

The Phoenix Theatre celebrates 75 years in the city of Wayne. An iconic theatre just keeps getting better.

From all reports the 75th celebration at the State Wayne Phoenix Theatre last week was a "knock it out of the park" event.

An absolutely great turnout, that included former employees, members of the Wayne City Council, Wayne Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, Mayor John Rhaesa, former Mayor Susan Rowe, relatives of the construction company owner that built the theater in 1947. That's right 1947.

Food was catered by Ginopolis and topped off with a great movie for those in attendence, Top Gun Maverick.

The typewriter and bodyguard left the Estate in plenty of time to get there and for the first time in my memory was caught in traffic trying to get out of Livonia.

Sorry Cory. Congratulations.

Our Hometown has a coalition working, as Mayor Brosnan likes to say, to build Livonia as the healthiest city in America. Are you ready?

A Livonia Democratic Club Sign-A-Palooza this Saturday, September 17th, from 2:00 to 6:00.

Come and get your political signs to be ready for the drop of Absentee Ballots the following week! They will have signs for ALL of the candidates in Livonia, whatever your district, from those candidates who have signs.

They have invited candidates to participate and they will be dropping in at different times since it will be a prime canvassing day. There will be snacks and beverages.

The garage is on Hubbard Road, three blocks south of 5 Mile, between Oakley and Barkley, 32352 Oakley Street.

FridayMusings will be happy to post a similar notice for Republican candidates if one is held in Livonia.
