We have had fun as these four earlier year pictures showcase, at previous Good Old Fashioned Neighborhood Corn Roasts. As we arrive at Year Five with plenty of sunshine expected and with the Tour de Livonia kicking off the day at 9:00 followed by the Corn Roast at 12:00 it makes this typewriter proud and excited. Proud that we have so many community organizations, 33, wanting to come out and spend an afternoon meeting and greeting friends, new and old. All the while listening to Robert Johnson, pictured below on guitar from 12:00 - 1:00, and the Livonia Civic Chorus. Oh, and chewing down on some Michigan corn on the cob, picked fresh that morning, prepared by the Livonia Lions and assistance from the Clarenceville basketball and volleyball teams.

One of Livonia's newest go-to Facebook sites, Vote. Run. Serve. serves up a description that this typewriter would like to share.

Todd Noonan joins Clarenceville schools

as new High School Principal.

The Clarenceville School District has hired a new high school principal for the 2022-2023 school year. Mr. Todd Noonan will fill the leadership position left vacant by the retirement of long-time principal, Mr. Troy Nelson.

Mr. Noonan earned his M.A. in Educational Leadership from Wayne State University. He has served both the Plymouth-Canton School District and the Royal Oak School District as a building administrator over the past ten years. He was most recently the principal of Royal Oak Middle School.

Mr. Noonan has been developing his leadership experiences through being a classroom teacher-leader, a Dean/Student Accounting Advisor, and an assistant high school principal. All of these experiences have prepared him for this leadership role as the new Clarenceville High School principal.

“We are excited to welcome Mr. Noonan to the Clarenceville School District community as our next high school principal,” said Paul Shepich, Superintendent of the Clarenceville School District. “He is dedicated to student and teacher growth and has the skill sets that are necessary for this building leadership position.

”Mr. Noonan is passionate about the success of our students and our staff and is an innovative, solution-driven leader, who will make an impact on our high school learning community.

“Mr. Noonan is the right person at the right time to work on our District Strategic Plan initiatives. Our school district has a leader whose abilities will provide strong instructional leadership while fostering strong relationships with all students, staff, and families,” said Shepich.

Let's see. First we have the Love Livonia party, then the Tour de Livonia, then the corn roast. September is just getting started as we have

the Shave-a-thon, One City/One Book, then the School Board candidate night.

Livonia Service Clubs join hands to build beds for those without

Come out Sunday and meet these community service clubs at the Neighborhood Corn Roast

More than 35 District 11A1 Lions, including 10 Livonia Lions, family members and friends came together in fellowship on Saturday, Sept 10th to build bunk beds at Lowes Home Improvement in Westland, MI.

They were joined by more than 20 Livonia Rotary volunteers, volunteers from Lowe's Home Improvement and other members of the public. Together they succeeded in building 52 twin beds.

Lion Matt Collins, District Governor,

would like to thank all of the volunteers for their willingness to "brave the beautiful weather and give of their time and talents to cut, sand, assemble, stain and brand each bed."

These beds will be delivered to children in need living in Wayne County on Saturday, Sept .17th.

The typewriter loves retail politics. Just face to face meetings with candidates like

Governor Whitmer.

Hundreds came out last week to meet Governor Whitmer. Legislators, Livonia leaders, school board candidates, young and old among so many smiling and having a good time with old fashioned retail meet and greet.

Councilman Brandon McCullough took the opportunity to meet up and endorse Matt Koleszar joining the endorsement earlier by Mayor Maureen Miller Brosnan, Council President Jim Jolly and FridayMusings.

There was school board Trustee Liz Jarvis working the crowd as was school candidate Emily Keith and her family.School Trustee Dan Centers was on hand as well.

Gotta love retail politics.

One Republican on the ballot this November has scheduled a retail outing Sunday, September 18, 1:00-4:00

Cathryn Neracher, R-Northville, is hosting a Livonia Ice Cream Social, this Sunday at the John Stymelski Park beginning at 1:00.

Her invitation includes her endorsement for Livonia Board of Education -- Pamela Morgan, Jeff Ferguson, and Reina Vendramini. She has also invited Tudor Dixon, candidate for Governor, and Kristina Karamo, candidate for Secretary of State.

Neracher in her literature advocates that parents "alone have a choice as to whether your kids wear masks, get vaccinated, are homeschooled, or are sent to a charter school."

She is a staunch supporter of parents working to "restore sanity and parental control when it comes to your child's education."

There will be free ice cream and bouncy houses for the children.

Neracher, is an attorney by education who upon graduating started her own business doing live trivia in bars and restaurants across the State of Michigan.

Commentary: FridayMusings has endorsed her opponent Matt Koleszar who is seeking his third term.

While Neracher is hosting a party at Stymelski Park her opponent Koleszar who was recently endorsed by Northville Mayor Brian Turnbull and Livonia Mayor Maureen Brosnan, has volunteered to serve as an Honorary Corn Roaster at the 5th Annual Good Old Fashioned Corn Roast.

He will be serving alongside Honorary Roasters and school board candidates incumbents Liz Jarvis and Colleen Burton, and challenger Emily Keith. State Senator Dayna Polehanki and State Representative Mary Cavanagh.

Each setting aside politics while volunteering to give back to the community.

Neracher is more than welcome to stop by the Corn Roast since her party does not start until 1:00. As she is from Northville or Livonia West, she might want to tour Bicentennial Park and meet some of the 1,500-2,000 folks who will be a part of this community event.

If I did not have the Corn Roast I would be at Stymelski Park for the free ice cream.

I love retail politics. Doesn't matter if it is someone that I am not supporting. Handshakes and one-on-one conversations beat dark money mailings any day.
