The Sri Shirdi Saibaba Temple is nearing approval for a new house of worship

The faith community in Livonia continues to impact our hometown

Sri Shirdi Saibaba Temple with over 600 members and with at times 1,000 people attending services has called Livonia its home since 2008 when the property was purchased from a Baptist Church.

The Livonia City Council is expected to pass final approach at its Monday, March 11 meeting, having already been approved by the Planning Commission.

Construction is expected to open in 2025.

Warm weather is driving our neighbors to explore vendors for home improvement. Stay in town for OUR home show.

The annual Livonia Home Improvement Show hosted by the Livonia Westland Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by the CVF Credit Union will feature 50+ exhibitors at the Kirksey Community Recreation Center.

There is free admission along with free parking. This show brings together local contractors and businesses for homeowners looking to upgrade their kitchen or bathroom, hire a landscaper, redo their driveway, clean their windows or get new ones and so much more!

90 years old, still loving Livonia. Oh, and her husband was the first hire in the Livonia Fire Department. 1947.

I stopped off for lunch at Chick-fil-A and struck up a conversation with a lady, Betty Maynard, standing in line. Imagine my surprise when she said she had lived in Livonia since the 1940s, just turned 90—raised her family here. And then the nugget that can only be discovered with a social, in-person conversation. It seems her husband was the first fireman in the Livonia Fire Department, Don Maynard. He started with the fire department in 1947.

She proceeded to give me a history of Plymouth Road, where the first Fire Chief lived, and that she loved living in Livonia.

Mayor Maureen Brosnan appoints Robb Drzewicki Government Affairs Director

Mayor Maureen Miller Brosnan has appointed Robert “Robb” Drzewicki to the position of Director of Government Affairs.

Drzewicki is a life-long Livonian who has a record of community service in numerous organizations. Previously, he served as Director of Communications and Training for Community Living Services in Wayne, a service and advocacy organization for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, across five counties.

“We are pleased to bring Robb onto the team,” Mayor Brosnan said. “He brings a history of engaging the community and building coalitions, as evidenced by his years of leadership in the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, where he helped raise tens of thousands of dollars to support childhood cancer research. We look for the same strategic coalition-building as he promotes Livonia Vision 21 and maintains productive relationships among local elected officials and the broader community.”

The realigned Government Affairs position will also be responsible for developing and supporting the city’s boards and commissions; monitoring grant opportunities; supporting volunteer efforts; and serving as a liaison with other governmental entities.

Drzewicki, who started March 5th, has also held multiple board positions with local nonprofits, including the LPS Education Foundation, the Livonia PSTA Council, and most recently, D.O. it for Denny.

His wife, Rebecca, serves on the Human Relations Commission. They have two sons who attend Livonia Public Schools, and three rescue animals, a dog and two cats.

The Jolly Family says By Golly Vote Jolly.

The Jolly children are taking to social media to support their dad. Oh, and the note to the typewriter invited folks to the Jim Jolly kick off celebration, March 7, at the Wintergarden hosted by Council President Brandon McCullough.

Another reason for the typewriter to visit Anastasia and Katie's Coffee Shop and Cafe

Had to drop by Anastasia and Katie's for the new menu item, the Bite Me Bagel, well the breakfast bagel as they only suggested that this was one of the names under consideration. in an online contest to name this wonderfully delicious bagel. So good. Cheese and pepperoni on a fresh bagel. Looking forward to Down Syndrome Day on March 21st. A real gem in our hometown.
