Join Seedlings in raising over $40,000 to distribute more than 4,000 braille books to children with vision loss! Starting November 7th, over 261 items, up from 233 items last Wednesday and 255 last Friday, will be available for bidding, with new additions arriving daily.

The tradition continues with the Annual Veterans Day

Worship Service at Rosedale Gardens Presbyterian Church

Annually, the women of Rosedale Gardens Presbyterian Church craft Honor Quilts for community veterans. Pastor Kate Mackie shares, "This year, one of our Quilts of Honor recipients is Steve Alexander."

Alexander served in the United States Navy and continues his service to the community through his homeowner association leadership. He is President of the Livonia Moose and works with Dave Laycock in coordinating the Livonia Veterans Connection.

Monday moanin', Wednesday wrangling, and Friday Fixins. All at once.

With the amount of electioneering about over it is time for this typewriter to vent on several other issues. So here is what I have been wanting to share with the readers of Musings:

For years I loved college sports. Who could argue with the Wolverine success during the Harbaugh era? Buried in the background of that 3 year run continues to be the stories of NIL and to me the damage it is doing to college amateur sports. $5 million offered up by one bagman, otherwise called a supporter, to bring in a 5-star quarterback. Lamborginees for 19-year-old quarterbacks. Transfers from one school to another. To receive quality education? Nope. More money. 3 schools/4 years. Losing interest. Disappointing.

I spent all of last year and this year searching for a snow plow service. One quoted $800 for the season, another $900. I couldn't find any service that would use a snow blower and charge per snowfall. They all prefer to use a front-end plow, which isn't effective on the circular drive of Musings Estate. Perhaps this year will bring a change. I remain hopeful and persistent in my search. Recommendations? Frustrating.

This Thanksgiving marks the first time in 20 years that the bodyguard and typewriter will be home to celebrate. Traditionally, we've spent the holiday in Georgia with Kathy's family. However, this year we're attending a family wedding there next week, so we'll be home for Thanksgiving before heading to Aurora, Colorado, for Christmas. We'll arrive on Christmas Eve and return on New Year's Eve. Our dilemma is deciding where to go for Thanksgiving dinner, as we'd prefer to dine out and avoid cooking. Hear that the Northville Senate has a top-drawer meal. Perhaps.

Is it just my perception, or are drivers becoming increasingly reckless? I find myself wondering about the reasons behind this behavior. You too? Curious.

Congratulations Madonna University for the increase of enrollment. Dr. Christopher Dougherty, the 8th President at Madonna who officially took over July 1, 2023, seems to be well received by so many sectors within the college community, both within the University and the Livonia community. Another positive story for Madonna. Successful.

Watching Tom Brady on Fox, particularly during his encounters with the Detroit Lions, is a pleasure. His transition from being a celebrated player to a Hall of Fame broadcaster has been remarkable. Unlike most sports broadcasts, where I prefer to mute the sound, Brady's commentary is an exception. Professionalism.

These are four that put a smile on my face

Christine Baranski of Good Wife fame visited Livonia Saturday

Chris Hench and Emma Cleyre Dale were seen hobnobbing with Christine Baranski at the Livonia Democratic office this past Saturday.

Baranski was traveling Michigan with one of her stops being right here in Livonia. She was a star in the Good Wife television series.

Customer Service is alive and well and Kate McCarty acknowledges

Von Maur & Drew Buatti

Kate McCarty offers up "Thank you Drew Buatti for helping me carry all my early Christmas gifts this evening downstairs to my car! Von Maur looks beautiful! You are the best! I'll be back and you know it! Don't forget to drop your unwrapped Toy of at Embassy Title Agency, Inc."

Families enjoyed being a part of the annual Turkey Trot

Carrie Budzinski says that "Another Turkey Trot in the books. Not our best but the hats were fun. Proud of Sam for pushing through even though he does not like athletics and proud of Lucas for running his 5th 5k Lucas runs solo, 33 minutes."

Halloween with the grandchildren will

put a smile on faces all night long

Alan Helmkamp in between opening up his new law office found time to spend with his grandchildren.

"Happy Halloween from Lake Shannon! We had about 130 kids and teens, and dozens of thirsty adults. The winners: Reese’s and shots of Maker’s Mark."

We all have our favorites and the typewriter is no different.

The typewriter is not available for phone calls or emails Saturday and Sunday. Mental health and rehabilitation time. Out and about enjoying life.

What motivates FridayMusings:

We can't only define Livonia as taking small steps toward maintaining the way things were. That will give us mediocre outcomes. Our goal needs to be innovative and transformative.
