October 12: Join Trinity Health and the Livonia Police at

2024 Faith and Blue with a Splash of Pink Community Event

The Livonia Police Department and Trinity Health Livonia invite you to join them at the 2024 Faith and Blue with a Splash of Pink event. This annual collaboration between the Livonia Police Department, faith institutions, and Trinity Health Livonia demonstrates the power of unity and the positive impact we can make when people come together to listen, engage and better understand one another.

On Saturday, October 12, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Nehasil Memorial Park will transform into a vibrant hub of activity. Families will enjoy a fun-filled day with food, music, bounce houses, pumpkin painting, face painting, photos with the Detroit Tigers mascot “PAWS,” and so much more.

Beyond all the family-friendly festivities, this annual event aims to build bridges between local law enforcement and the faith community and to help raise awareness about the importance of breast cancer prevention.

In today's information age, far too many of us approach the world with biases developed over time, from our overconsumption of TV to what we are fed on social media. The Livonia Police Department is committed to reducing these biases and fostering real, in-person engagement with the people our local officers are entrusted to protect. Faith and Blue is a national movement that brings representatives from various law enforcement groups and faith traditions across the United States to advance this important cause.

Trinity Health Livonia is proud once again to participate in this year’s Faith and Blue event and offer its own Splash of Pink. The hospital’s Cancer Care team will be on hand to educate the community about the importance of early breast cancer detection and offer resources for cancer screenings.

With October being National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, this is the perfect opportunity for women in Livonia and surrounding communities to be proactive with their breast health.

Together, the Livonia Police Department and Trinity Health Livonia are committed to your health, safety, and well-being. We hope to build bridges, connect with you on a human level, and contribute to the social fabric that binds our community together.

We encourage you to bring a friend, child or loved one to join us at this year’s Faith and Blue with a Splash of Pink event. You can find the event on Facebook and share it with your friends.

If you have questions regarding your breast health, please contact Cody Husemann at Cody.Husemann001@trinity-health.org.

Council President Brandon McCullough in his own words wants to provide an update on his plan for the Noble/Sheldon Park

My Plan for the Noble Facility:

Complete a full gut rehab to USGBC Lead standards; based on current industry costs between $60/ftsq - $150/ftsq and the building footprint at 16,000, I’m estimating 2.4 million to complete the renovation.

The new space would be an innovation station; (2) large rentable meeting spaces that could be used for summer camps, neighborhood associations, makers stations, baby showers, birthday parties, etc.

A satellite city services function for taxes, voter registration, recycling bins, library drop off/pick-up, water bill payment, etc.

Provide space for service groups that are always desperately looking for office space.

The new renovation would include the industry’s most sustainable products to ensure we are maximizing legacy building maintenance costs.

Sheldon Park:

Just north of the pool, I would add a splash-pad feature to pair with the pool. This would create a destination and membership would increase.

I would renovate the existing tennis courts, adding a pickleball component.

On the west side abutting Farmington Road, I would propose a public/private partnership to offset development costs for the entire project. This could be a continuation of the retail to the north and nothing that would affect the harmony in the surrounding area.

I would keep (2) baseball fields and (1) softball fields. Working with Parks and LJAL on a revision.

I would add walking paths throughout the entire site to promote walkability and access to local businesses.

How do we pay for it?

Use the PRDA funding to jump right into feasibility programming. This is needed to apply for grants!

Current funding possibilities:

-SEMCOG, USGBC

-@Friday Musings recently posted a great article that partners with our new neighbors Penske Automotive Group.

- State and Federal funding; we have representation in Lansing and Washington to work with.

-Private partnership on the west sliver of the property.

We have hit a point where we need to stop punting this matter and start doing something. To date, I have documented a plan and means to make it happen. I ask you to join me and make your voices heard in getting something done. I will not post excuses and misinformation, but truth and opinions.

So, I ask you now for your help to make this a reality. While my powers only go so far, we need to join together and let the administration know what the people want!

We have a committee meeting on 10/16/24 at the Sheldon Pavilion at 6:00 PM. Please consider joining! The time is now to make a decision.

"Dr. Ben Carson gave those who are on the fence about voting for Donald Trump for President very compelling reasons to choose Trump 2024. Dr. Carson also reiterated that the democrats will do everything within their power to divide us, we must stay strong and united."

What motivates FridayMusings:

We can't only define Livonia as taking small steps toward maintaining the way things were. That will give us mediocre outcomes. Our goal needs to be innovative and transformative.

John Larkin shares support from

First Responders and women leaders for

Wayne County Circuit Court

"Happy to share that our campaign for Wayne County Circuit Court Judge continues to gain momentum with the added endorsement of the Police Officers Association of Michigan. They join the Livonia Police Officers Association and Livonia Firefighters Local 1164."

"I am honored to have these outstanding public servants who have stepped up to join our campaign. Each in their own right are blazing trails and providing leadership."

Councilwoman Carrie Budzinski explains why she is endorsing Jim Jolly for Livonia District Court

I have mixed feelings about endorsements and I don't feel like I'm anyone special to give one but I do support my friends and I want good people elected into public office. Jim Jolly is a good person and cares more about his family than anything. I admire and respect that because he doesn't get lost in the games that come with politics/elections, his north star (his family) is his constant. We need a judge in Livonia who knows what matters. We need someone on the bench who understands that people have lives and loved ones and can deliver justice with understanding.

Jim is smart and his legal mind is an important asset to our Council. He is experienced and has done the work required of the 16th District Judge as a magistrate. I know he will serve our city well as judge and hope you'll check out his page if you have questions, send him a DM to Jim Jolly
