Helping define Livonia's

Quality of Life

See you all Sunday as the march toward $2 million continues. Only in Livonia do we turn so much fun into so many funds.

Livonia and the rest of the 9th District will benefit from the return to office of

Commissioner Terry Marecki

In the race for Wayne County Commissioner District 9, voters have two commendable candidates: challenger Carol Souchak, a retired librarian from Plymouth, and incumbent Terry Marecki of Livonia. The electorate is encouraged to consider this contest and its importance to the communities in District 9.

Mareki's regular communication of positive developments within her district, her accessibility, and her understanding of local issues and needs are strengths of her candidacy. She has been instrumental in securing many millions of dollars for Livonia, and the Plymouth and Northville communities, positively impacting every area of her district.

Livonia Mayor Maureen Miller Brosnan describes Marecki as "a real friend of Livonia," pivotal in the transformation of the intended Five Mile and Farmington Roads downtown, having been involved from the outset. Marecki played a significant role in making the new Senior Wellness Center a reality, by working in a true bipartisan fashion to obtain $8 million in funding from Wayne County, working along with the Evans administration and  Commissioner Glenn Anderson.

In Northville, she helped secure $2.5 million in county funds for the Rouge River improvements, aiming to prevent flooding and reduce sediment buildup. She brought back significant dollars for road and park improvements throughout the district.

As a proponent of a balanced County Budget, she diligently reviews the County Executive's proposed budget, thoroughly questioning each department before consenting to the budget's approval.

Her support goes beyond party lines; although a committed Republican, she acknowledges her duty to assist every resident in her district, recognizing that she represents everyone when they have constituent inquiries or issues.

FridayMusings endorses Terry Marecki, who has experience as a school board member, city official, and current County Commissioner. But remember, the most significant endorsement comes from your vote on election day. This endorsement celebrates a true friend of Livonia, Northville, and Plymouth. Terry Markecki’s re-election to the Wayne County Board of Commissioners would benefit us all.

Maintaining the quality of teamwork with four solid candidates for election to the Livonia Board of Education

A proficient school board serves as a crucial overseer, ensuring that your local school remains focused and enacts policies that impact both your child and the school. The board establishes the district's vision and objectives, and it is responsible for holding the district to account for its outcomes.

A single member cannot fulfill these duties in isolation. Competent board members bring their distinct skills to the table and work in concert with fellow board members as a cohesive team.

In the upcoming Board of Education election, Livonia presents four candidates in the non-partisan section of the ballot. Each candidate offers unique qualities and skillsets that promise to benefit our community. Their commitment to engaging all community members, not just parents of schoolchildren, is set to strengthen the board's collaborative efforts. FridayMusings endorses Karen Bradford, Crystal Frank, Madeline Acosta, and Dave MacFarland, believing they will, both individually and together, make Livonia proud and fortify our school district, which in turn helps define Livonia quality of life.

What motivates FridayMusings:

We can't only define Livonia as taking small steps toward maintaining the way things were. That will give us mediocre outcomes. Our goal needs to be innovative and transformative.
