to KDA state veterinarian’s office passes first step
A bill to add a new division within the Kentucky Department of Agriculture’s (KDA) Office of State Veterinarian to enhance the department’s preparedness and response to animal emergencies was approved Tuesday, Feb. 21 by the Senate Ag Committee, Commissioner of Agriculture Dr. Ryan Quarles announced.
In Kentucky, 1.4 percent (about 600) of the roughly 76,000 farms in the state are owned by Black farmers, trailing the national figure of 2 percent.
