August   2018

Thank you member Marti Miller for presenting
Intergenerational Insights

On June 14th, members and guests enjoyed "Intergenerational Insights" presented by Marti Miller at McCormick's CafĂ© meeting room.  In addition, we enjoyed snacks and beverages. Thank you Cara and Lynn for arranging the program and food.  Both were a treat!

We explored over 100 years of generations: Traditionalists, Baby Boomers, Gen X, Gen Y (Millennials) and Gen Z.   The objective of the presentation was to provide insight into influences and traits of each group that help explain differences in attitudes, beliefs, values, etc. between these ages.  Extra time was spent on Gen X, Y and Z because these are our children and grand children!  This is the first time that four (or sometimes five) generations are in the workplace together, creating many new challenges in communication methods, feedback approaches, job loyalty, reward/compensation expectations and working hours/locations.  Gen Z is the most diverse generation. Social media is having a big impact on all generations and how we communicate with one another.

Thank you Marti for sharing so much interesting and valuable information!!

Outreach for June was Tumbleweed.

Please "like" us  and "follow" us on Facebook to keep up with this active group of women!

Thank you for your continued support and making the Billings Chapter of TTN vibrant.

Make sure to mark your calendar with upcoming program dates and Meet and Greet dates located on the side of the news letter.

I am looking forward to seeing you all in September!

In keeping with the name of our organization, 3 members of the Steering committee have recently transitioned to new positions. Left to Right
  • Marti Miller has changed roles in the food service industry.  She is now National Account Manager at Oregon Fruit Products.  She will continue to work with foodservice chains on menu ideas that utilize the company's pourable fruit product line for beverages, desserts and many other applications.
  • Chair Evelyn Noennig who recently retired from the Billings Gazette after 24 years, has recently began as Executive Assistant to Chancellor Dan Edelman at MSU-B.  Her years of experience and extensive contacts will be put to good use in support of our local university.
  • Lynn Langiers has begun part time work at Yellowstone Valley Women. She will continue her relationships throughout the community and is selling advertising for the popular magazine.

Winey Women is one of the wine-related SIGs.  Here, Winey Women members are enjoying great wine, food, and friendship at Seva.  The other wine-related SIG is named Uncorked.

Community Outreach
Outreach Makes A
Difference

TTN women want to stay involved. They are using their skills to positively impact their own communities on a variety of levels. And they are changing the way organizations think of volunteers.  No longer satisfied to just stuff envelopes, our members are directing resources, raising money and finding gratification in "giving back."

One way we can "give back" is by making donations to local non-profits.  In conjunction with our quarterly program we will highlight one organization which donations will be taken to. We will provide a list of items that the organization is in need of and ask that you consider a gift when joining us at the program.
