The Transition Network
What's New in Billings...

Much has happened since our last newsletter.  Members are connecting with other members through Special Interest Groups, our new program Connections, Quarterly Meetings and at Meet & Greets.  They are discovering new interests and new opportunities as they engage with each other and meet new friends.  Plus, members are impacting their lives and the lives of others as they volunteer in our community.  We hope you enjoy the pictures from past activities over the last few months.

Our chapter continues to grow with new members as we connect to other women in our community.  The Steering Committee is busy making plans as we move into spring and the celebration of our first anniversary.  We will launch our Peer Groups on March 28th at the library and in April celebrate our Anniversary with a luncheon and program at the Petroleum Club.  Plus, we will have our Women in Transition Workshop again with Jean Palmer,
TTN National Board Member, and member of the Santa Fe Chapter.  Jean will be coming to Billings to help facilitate the workshop.

Make sure you "like" us on Facebook to keep up with this active group of women!

Thank you for your continued support and making the Billings Chapter of TTN vibrant.

We are excited to launch TTN Peer groups!  Peer Groups are one of TTN's Signature Programs.  They are small groups of the same members that gather in a comfortable and trusting invironment on a monthly bases to discuss:
  • What is important to them at this stage of life
  • Share ways to live with vitality and wisdom
  • Provide support to each other
The difference between Special Interest Groups and Peer Groups: SIG's are member-generated around topics or activities and anyone can start one.

Peer Group are facilitated groups composed of 8-12 TTN members.  A safe and supportive environment provides members a place for thought-provoking and stimulating conversations relating to transition to help members reflect on their lives - past, present and future.

TTN January Program Recap
"Social Security Pre-Retirement"

David Baier from the Social Security Field office in Billings presented a great overview of how to maneuver around the system.  His first piece of advice was to go online and check your social security statements - making sure earnings are correct.  Social security benefits are based on the top 35 earning years, so it's important to make sure your information is accurate.

David talked about things to consider regarding what age is best to begin taking benefits.  There's a lot of information available online and he recommended making an appointment to discuss your own situation with one of the social security advisers.
He also reviewed the different components of Medicare.

Linda Wham took the group through the new TTN website.   From setting up your account to signing up for programs and events - there are many resources on both the national and local pages.

Thank you Linda Wham for your help learning how to navigate the website!

Community Outreach
Outreach Makes A
Difference

TTN women want to stay involved. They are using their skills to positively impact their own communities on a variety of levels. And they are changing the way organizations think of volunteers.  No longer satisfied to just stuff envelopes, our members are directing resources, raising money and finding gratification in "giving back."

One way we can "give back" is by making donations to local non-profits.  In conjunction with our quarterly program we will highlight one organization which donations will be taken to. We will provide a list of items that the organization is in need of and ask that you consider a gift when joining us at the program.
