Bills & 'Bloody' Protests at Capitol
Vote on Love Life Amendment Expected Next Week!
I know I told you last week that our Love Life Amendment would receive a vote on the Senate floor this week, but it's looking like that will happen next week. Keep sending your emails to your State Senator!

LOTS of other activity has happened at the Capitol. Here are a few highlights...

  • The Heartbeat Bill cleared a House committee yesterday and now heads to the House floor. Together with the new Alabama abortion law, this law is receiving plenty of media coverage. We have done two TV interviews just today. Read the Advocate article.
  • Pro-abortion protesters covered in fake blood shouting "No Church, no state, rich men won't decide our fate" were removed by police from the Capitol Rotunda yesterday. Of course, many of our bills this session are led by heroic pro-life women legislators!
  • The 1972 ERA bill was defeated on the Senate floor last week! Thanks for sending your emails to your Senators.
  • On Monday, the House will vote on a positive bill opening the door for "Safe Haven Baby Boxes" to be installed at fire stations to allow mothers to safely surrender their babies instead of hurting them. Learn more about this effort, which began in Indiana.

See a complete list of the legislation we are following on our State Session webpage! Get involved by contacting your Senator and Representative!

For a Pro-Life Louisiana,

Heavy Rains Don't Dampen Spirits at Bowties for Babies! Thank You For Attending!
Heavy storms rolled through Baton Rouge on Thursday, May 9, but not even flooded streets could keep a large group of supporters away from the seventh annual Bowties for Babies: A Southern Style Soiree Benefiting Life at the Capitol Park Museum.
The annual event featured music, food, drinks, a silent auction and awarding of the 2019 Leadership for Life Award to Pastors Larry and Jonathan Stockstill of Bethany Church in Baton Rouge.

Love Life Amendment Passes Out of Senate Committee, Awaits Vote on Senate Floor
HB 425, the Love Life Amendment to the Louisiana Constitution, has been voted out of the Senate Judiciary A Committee and awaits a vote of the full Senate, now expected to be next week. If it receives 2/3 vote (it already has passed the House) it will be put on the ballot on Oct. 12. There, Louisiana’s voters will have the chance to ensure that there is no right to abortion or to taxpayer funding of abortion in Louisiana’s constitution. Please email your Senator today and ask that he or she votes YES to the Love Life Amendment.
