| | | Bingo Unveils Micro EV for Africa’s Ride-Hailing Market | | |
California-based Bingo has unveiled a micro electric vehicle for Africa’s ride-hailing and delivery market.
The ‘Bingo E2’ is a four-seater L7e-class vehicle powered by a 31kWh battery alongside a secondary system made up of four swappable modules. Combined, the dual-battery setup delivers a claimed range of up to 310 miles.
Bingo has opened pre-orders for the vehicle ahead of planned production starting in Q3 2026, with initial deployments planned for Kenya and South Africa.
“The biggest current financial burden for workers driving used gas cars is the cost of gas and maintenance,” Bingo Chief Revenue Officer Alex Nesic told Zag Daily. “When adding up the gas, the car payment and the platform fee, drivers can end the day with $0 in actual earnings.”
Nesic said the three-metre-long Bingo E2 is designed to “shift the economics” for drivers, lowering the cost of operation with an extended range to boost take-home pay.

| | Bolt for Taxis Is Coming to Abu Dhabi Within Weeks | | |
Transport in Abu Dhabi is getting better with every week that goes by.
In the latest good news, Bolt for taxis is set to launch in Abu Dhabi in the coming weeks.
The development is an extension of the growing relationship between Dubai Taxi Company (DTC) and Bolt, who launched their services in Dubai in late 2024. This week, DTC announced a Dhs1.45 billion deal to acquire National Taxi.
In an exclusive interview with Arabian Business, Group CEO Mansoor Rahma Alfalasi said: “We are going to launch Bolt officially on the taxi [side].” (adding that the company had already soft-launched Bolt on the limousine side in Abu Dhabi).
“Once Bolt is operating in Abu Dhabi, of course, it will be a very good opportunity for us to be ready by plugging our taxis, plus other operators who would also be on board with us,” he said.
For Abu Dhabi residents, this means it’s easier than ever to hail a taxi. The Bolt app allows users to book a ride in seconds. You can select a pick-up location and be matched with a driver within moments.
It makes sense: with Abu Dhabi’s ever-growing population, it’s more important than ever to be able to secure quick, reliable transport around the developing city.
Bolt’s arrival in Abu Dhabi is just one of a flurry of high-tech transport initiatives in the city. From flying taxis and high-speed rail to Bolt’s launch, it’s never been easier to get around Abu Dhabi.

UK Ministers Face Fresh Calls to Tackle Illegal E-Bikes
A coalition of transport and road safety bodies is urging UK ministers to take tougher action against the growing use of illegal high-powered e-bikes, warning that weak enforcement is putting riders, road users and legitimate businesses at risk. Under UK law, legal e-bikes – classified as Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycles (EAPCs) – are limited to 250W of motor power, must cut assistance at 15.5mph and require pedals to propel the bike and activate motor assistance. But across the country, authorities are seeing a sharp rise in non-compliant vehicles that exceed those limits.

Integrating Air Quality and Electric Mobility to Improve Urban Life in Latin America
Transport, from commuting to freight delivery, is a major source of emissions and air pollution. Poor air quality is one of the main unintended side effects of mobility. | | India Supreme Court: Location Tracking Devices, Panic Buttons Mandatory in Taxis, Public Vehicles | | |
In a major order to augment public transport safety, the Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered all States and Union Territories to ensure the strict implementation of a rule requiring location tracking features and panic buttons to be installed in taxis and other public service vehicles [S Rajaseekaran vs. Union of India and Others].
A Bench of Justices JB Pardiwala and KV Viswanathan today said that it was disturbing that less than 1 per cent of transport vehicles have vehicle location tracking devices.
Such features could ensure the safety of passengers, particularly women, elderly and children, the Court pointed out.
"We direct all States and Union Territories to strictly enforce Rule 125H of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 by ensuring the installation of vehicle location tracking devices and panic buttons in a time-bound and verifiable manner in both new and existing public service vehicles," the Court proceeded to direct.
It added that no public service vehicle can be granted a fitness certificate or transport permit unless it is fitted with Vehicle Location Tracking Devices (VLTDs) and emergency/ panic buttons.
The installation of these features must also be reflected in the Vahan app, the Court said.
