CEO and President, LifeSciences BC
CEO REPORT
Greetings, we are off and running in a very busy month of September! We are excited to be bringing together the Life Sciences community today for our 22nd Annual LifeSciences BC Awards presented by FARRIS from 2.00pm – 3.30pm (virtually).  Here is the link to the registration, as there is still time to join us today.

The following is a summary of this year’s Award Winners with a link to their award videos where you can learn more about their respective journeys and career milestones.

The 22nd Annual LifeSciences BC Award Winners:

Following the awards event, attendees are invited to join us at a reception to celebrate the award winners and network with peers from 3:30pm to 4:30pm in the Remo event venue. The platform allows you to sit at virtual tables and meet with up to five of your peers at a time. You can also upload your photo, add your business title and social media content to make it easier to meet people. This link can be used to connect to the event and set up your account which can then be used both for this virtual event venue and future LSBC networking events.

A very popular component of our Annual Awards ceremony is the launch of our BIV- LifeSciences annual magazine. As in previous years, we focus our magazine on a theme that resonates with the vibrancy of our sector. This year's theme “Innovation in Motion – A New Era captures the individuals, organizations, and companies pursuing innovation at the highest levels. We featured some of B.C. finest health and research assets like; BC Cancer Agency, and BC Cancer Foundation, BC Academic Health Science Network, BC Centre for Excellence on HIV/AIDS, the Centre for Health Evaluation & Outcome Science (CHEOS), Genome BC and the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research, to name just a few highlighted. Also included were stories on TRIUMF, POP Data BC, Chinook and Amgen’s history here in BC – we have a richness to our ecosystem that leads the world in disease research and scientific innovation. The magazine includes a useful directory of our sector at-a-glance along with other interesting information. Given that our event is virtual this year, we launched the magazine online, which you can find here. We are thankful for the team at Business in Vancouver who generously support this effort with their fine team of writers, reporters, editors, and photographers.

Next week we will be hosting our Annual General Meeting 2020 on September 24th from 9.00 - 9.30am. LSBC members can join us by registering here.

I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events and throughout the Fall season. We are working hard to create opportunities to promote the life sciences sector within B.C., Canada and globally, to connect our broad stakeholder group and create opportunities for networking and growth. Please do not hesitate to reach out to myself or anyone on the LSBC team if we can be of assistance.
