I had the privilege of attending the 2023 Bloom Burton & Co. Award Gala last week, honouring a scientist, inventor, executive, entrepreneur, industry leader, or policy maker who contributed most significantly to Canada's innovative healthcare industry the previous year. It was wonderful to see a significant BC contingent in attendance to celebrate outstanding life sciences leaders from across the country!

Big congratulations to the evening's award recipient, Stephen Dilly, former CEO of Sierra Oncology, and to the inspiring finalists, Ian Mortimer of Xenon Pharmaceuticals and Dave Wessinger and Mike Wessinger of PointClickCare. The award was presented to Mr. Dilly by last year's award recipient, BC's Dr. Pieter Cullis. This prestigious event is a testament to the remarkable contributions of our Canadian healthcare innovators, who have left an indelible mark on the industry. Congratulations also to Bloom Burton for hosting such a fantastic event! Here are some highlights!

This week, I was pleased to moderate an engaging panel discussion at Reboot Communications' 23rd Annual Healthcare Summit, exploring how post-pandemic digital health solutions enhance access to efficient, quality mental healthcare services, benefiting all Canadians. Thanks to panelists Dr. Matthew Chow of Telus Health, Dr. Diane McIntosh of Rapids HealthMichel Rodrigue of the Mental Health Commission of Canada, and Chenny Xia of Gotcare for sharing your valuable insights!

LSBC also enjoyed attending last week's BioAlberta Health & Life Sciences Showcase, featuring engaging discussions on cutting-edge life sciences topics and celebrating outstanding Alberta companies. It’s heartening to collaborate with our provincial counterparts and bolster our shared presence on the global stage. This cooperative spirit exemplifies our Canadian life sciences community. Pictured are Ryan Butt, of LSBC, Rob Henderson of BioTalent Canada, and Robb Stoddard of BioAlberta.
