Making it up
Valley Improv came to JAM for a wild 'n' wacky show. The audience shouted out suggestions, and the courageous comedians did as they were told. The troupe, now in its sixteenth-year, played games like "Two-Line Vocabulary" and pretended to be underwater, in outer space, at Hogwarts, in middle school, at the dentist's office... Fun was had by all!
Produced by JAM's Richard Neugass and Noah Mauchly

You said you would
That was the theme of Mudroom at AVA Gallery. Mudroom is an event where speakers share personal, often comic stories around a theme—in this case "Promises." Storytellers included Michele Rogge, Tara Friend Cantore, Kate Dembinski, Sharon Blake, and Pat McDevitt. "Stories can bring us together," said Mudroom host Judith Hertog. "I want people to tell more stories."
Produced by JAM's Jordyn Fitch and Maeve Littau

Germ of an idea
Take cellulose like algae. Science the heck out of it. Voila! You can engineer bacteria to make biofuels. Here's the low-down from Daniel Olson, an assistant professor of engineering at Dartmouth: "One of their big advantages is you can use them for negative emissions....This is a perfect solution for climate change." His talk happened at Suds & Science, a lecture series of the VT Center for Ecostudies in Norwich.
