Greetings ,
This month's newsletter announces a few upcoming events, but also provides me the opportunity to remind you that the BTER Foundation is here for YOU. Whether or not you are a member of our organization, you are still considered our client. We serve all who come to us. To that end, I hope you will let us know how we can best meet your needs. In particular, I hope you will take this opportunity to tell us what would improve the BioTherapy Live! broadcasts for you, and whether or not you would be interested in a shorter audio-only biotherapy podcast.
One recommendation has already been implemented: a consistent, pre-announced Zoom link so that attendees do not need to keep checking their messages for the latest link. You will find the dedicated link below.
The next BioTherapy Live! broadcast is coming up on Tuesday, August 17 at 4:00 pm EDT (1:00 pm Pacific Time). The program will feature Dr. Kosta Mumcuoglu, and is titled: "Maggot therapy: the Israeli experience."
Dr. Mumcuoglu received his BSc in 1972 and his PhD in 1975, from the University of Basel, Switzerland (Depts of Zoology and Dermatology). He is currently professor at The Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical School, in Jerusalem, where he has been teaching and doing his research for nearly 40 years. He also is or has been appointment to the faculty of universities in Switzerland, Turkey, and Teheran.
He is well-known for his research on parasitic arthropods, such as lice, bed bugs, midges, fleas, mites, and ticks. For the past 30 years, he has been a leading force for research and clinical care in maggot therapy and leech therapy, hence his connection with biotherapy.
In addition to being a member of multiple scientific societies, he is the chair of several, including the
International Biotherapy Society. Dr. Mumcuoglu has received multiple awards for outstanding achievement, including the BTER Foundation's first William S. Baer Award for the Advancement of Biotherapy.
Catch his presentation live on Zoom or Facebook if you can (Zoom link below). Even if you can not participate in the live program, you will be able to find the recording posted on
Facebook page and
YouTube channel afterwards.
