The Birch Bay Buzz
A Weekly Publication of the Birch Bay Chamber of Commerce

June 29, 2022
A Word from the Director,

Sorry, you missed your weekly Birch Bay update last week. It's event season here at the Birch Bay Chamber of Commerce, and while we make every possible effort to get you a weekly newsletter, some weeks it just isn't possible.

We want to thank Whatcom County, and specifically Tyler Schroeder, Deputy Executive, for helping us secure additional funding for public porta-potties through this summer. We are extremely thankful for the continued support and partnership of Whatcom County, and we look forward to continuing the work of securing a long-term solution to the demand for public restroom facilities in Birch Bay.

Because of the support of Whatcom County we were able to secure additional Porta-Potty units starting tomorrow in anticipation of the 4th of July weekend.

If you have any information you would like to share with our Membership and community please email director@birchbaychamber.com by Monday. Newsletters will be sent every Wednesday.
KITE FEST 2022!
Kite Fest 2022, was a HUGE success!
Thank you to all of our volunteers, and our dedicated board of directors who helped us manage the crowds. Never before have we had such a large crowd for Kite Fest and we are conservatively estimating 1500 - 2000 people joined us this past weekend. We gave away over 700 FREE kites to kids, a record for this event! We also got to give our mobile visitor information desk its first preview to the community! We are still working on the data we received from all the signatures we received but are excited to find out where all these visitors came from! Thank you to Bellingham Whatcom County Tourism for letting us have this awesome unit!

For those who don't know, our events are made possible, in part by a Tourism Promotion Grant from Whatcom County. Along with their generous support, we want to give a huge shout-out and thank you to all of our generous sponsors.
Also, we want to thank WCLS & our Friends of Birch Bay Library for letting us use their amazing space to host our events. It is a magical location, and we love seeing it come alive during these fun community events!

Want to be a volunteer? Email Sacha at sacha@birchbaychamber.com for more information!
JULY 4th INFORMATION:
We get many questions about Birch Bay Chamber-hosted events for the Fourth of July. Though we don't host any 4th of July events here in Birch Bay, we encourage you to check out what is happening in Blaine!

The Birch Bay Chamber assists with the cleanup on the 5th of July! Over the last 7 years the Birch Bay Community, with help from Whatcom County, has picked up 29.88 TONS of July 4th Garbage on the beaches in Birch Bay. That is 59,760 POUNDS!

If you plan on celebrating in Birch Bay this year please keep this in mind and always remember, if you pack it in... pack it out!
