The Birch Bay Buzz
A Weekly Publication of the Birch Bay Chamber of Commerce

March 10, 2022
A Word From The Director:

You may have already seen a survey we sent this week and previously on February 25th, if you have already responded, thank you, and please disregard. If you haven't please take a moment and complete a VERY SHORT survey (it's only 2 questions) about country and state issues that concern you and your business! The data collected will be used by the Birch Bay Chamber of Commerce to advocate on behalf of our members and community at the county and state levels of government. Answers given are anonymous, meaning we can only see what the responses are, not who submitted them.

If you have any information you would like to share with our Membership and community please email director@birchbaychamber.com by Monday. Newsletters will be sent every Wednesday.

PeaceHealth’s ICU, Emergency Depart. staff will celebrate Pi Day
Most agree that you don’t need an excuse to eat fresh-baked pie. But when one comes along, Whatcom Land Title Co. is going to take advantage of it.

Since today is Pi Day, Whatcom Land Title Co. delivered approximately 150 handcrafted, made-from-scratch mini-pies to the intensive care unit and Emergency Department at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham

“Our ICU and Emergency Department doctors, nurses and support staff have provided amazing care for our community, especially for the past two years while facing higher patient counts from the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Colleen Baldwin, owner of Whatcom Land Title. “Pi Day seems like the perfect time to give them a tasty gesture of our appreciation for them.”

Pi, a Greek letter, is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159. That rounds off to 3.14, which is why it’s connected to March 14.

To help reduce the risk of cross-contamination in shared food, WLT donated individual mini-pies from Barb’s Pies and Pastries in Ferndale, Baldwin said.

Whatcom Land Title Co., listed among the top 100 privately owned and operated businesses in Whatcom County, offers title insurance and escrow services. It has been locally owned since its launch in 1982 and has branches in Bellingham (2011 Young St.), Blaine (8105 Birch Bay Square St.) and Lynden (507 Front St.). To ensure the safety of staff and clients while operating during the coronavirus pandemic, please call (360) 676-8484 to make an appointment. For more information, visit www.WhatcomTitle.com.

2022 Blaine/Birch Bay Community Survey
The 2022 Community Survey provides those who live and/or work in the Birch Bay, Blaine & Point Roberts Communities an opportunity to share their perspectives about community strengths, resources, community concerns, family support, substance use, and other related topics. Questions also provide an opportunity to share your hopes for the future.
How the information will be used: this survey is anonymous, meaning that no results are attached to a person, but compiled and presented as a whole. results from this survey will be used at monthly community meetings of the Birch Bay/Blaine Thrives (a broad community network of school and community representatives) and shared with other community groups this year to inform discussions on how best we can support youth, families, and the communities of Blaine, Birch Bay, and Point Roberts. Feedback, for example, will help guide next year's grant planning, prioritizing local prevention projects and shape new partnerships for Thrives.
Directions: This 22-question survey will take about 12 minutes to complete. They would love to hear your opinions. The survey is being administered through the Whatcom County Health Department by Community Resilience Research on behalf of BBB Thrives.
