A Word from the Director
We want to take a minute to thank our sponsors, community, visitors, the business community, and volunteers. Our 39th Annual Sand Sculpture Competition and our 8th annual Rollback Weekend were huge successes! We had over 30 teams competing in the Sand Sculpture Competition, and the competition was FIERCE! Check out more photos on our Facebook Page. The return of the Rollback Weekend Car Show brought 141 car show entries, and thanks to our WECU our signature sponsor we gave away 2 trips to Vegas for our People's Choice Award, a first in Birch Bay Event history. Check out more photos HERE.
After a busy weekend, we quickly transitioned to National Night Out and Partnered with the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office and The Birch Bay State Park and were joined by over 360 people who got to check out police cars, motorcycles, firetrucks, and so much MORE! Thanks to Neighborhood Deputy, Derek Jones who helped to organize and plan such a fun community event!
While it seems like that could be enough to take a nice long break... we find ourselves planning for Discover Birch Bay Days. We hope if you haven't already, you will take this opportunity to "Discover" our amazing community and everything it has to offer. Birch Bay is fantastic in the summer, but it is fantastic all year round with lots of amazing things to do and enjoy no matter the season!
If you have any information you would like to share with our Membership and community please email director@birchbaychamber.com by Monday. Newsletters will be sent every Wednesday.

LIONS CAMP HORIZON - SEEKS NEW CARETAKER
|
|
|
Lions Camp Horizon Foundation
P/T Caretaker Position Available
Lions Camp Horizon, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization (www.lionscamphorizon.org), is seeking a P/T, year-round Caretaker for our facilities and grounds located with Whatcom County’s Bay Horizon Park in Birch Bay, WA.
Job scope includes undertaking periodic security and operational checks on our buildings, responding to occasional potential intruder or fire alarms, assisting renters with access and/or minor facility issues they encounter, working with one of our volunteers who may require another set of hands to complete a task, undertaking limited maintenance such as replacing lightbulbs and occasional cleaning prior to and following a rental.
Depending on the candidate’s skills, experience and interest additional work may be available in the areas of “handyman” repairs and minor improvements whether working independently or with one of our volunteers. Additionally, our extensive grounds require substantial grass cutting and edge trimming conducted with our own equipment. Operation and light maintenance of that equipment is an optional element that could add significant work hours seasonally dependent on the candidate’s experience and interest.
The successful candidate must be able to lift up to 40lbs, routinely climb stairs, use a stepladder and walk amongst our campus buildings both on pavement and somewhat uneven landscape. They must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the USA, pass a background check, have a valid driver’s license, and agree to be subject to random drug tests.
Compensation will be based on an hourly rate and is dependent on the skills of the successful candidate. While not required, there is an apartment on site which could be made available to the successful candidate and would become part of their compensation package.
Lions Camp Horizon complies with all laws prohibiting discrimination against any employee or applicant for employment on the grounds of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation (including gender identity), age, marital status, disability, political affiliation, or veteran status, except where such constitutes a bona fide occupational qualification.
