A note from the Director

As you may have noticed our friends at The Bridge have moved!

Their location at 4815 Alderson Rd. had to close due to ongoing issues with water damage following the flooding event on December 27th, 2022. They are currently working on renovating a new location at 7620 Birch Bay Drive, many of us in the community refer to this location as "the old yarn shop". They have done a lot of work, and it looks great!

They will be open at the new location this Friday (January 27th) from 2:30 PM - 5:00 PM to distribute food to those in need in our community.

As most of their items were destroyed in the last big flood, they are in need of a new freezer, possibly more refrigeration etc. If you have items that you think might help them continue to provide help to those in our community reach out to Doug Lang for more information. Also, tax-deductible donations can be made on their website. Use the links below to reach out.

Thank you,

Danielle Gaughen, Executive Director

Opportunity for our local businesses to connect with our Washington State Legislators

In collaboration with the other chambers of commerce in Whatcom County, the Bellingham Regional Chamber has organized a regular virtual call with our 42nd district legislators. This is open to our chamber members and will focus on business issues.

These are short, regular meetings focused on business issues to keep up to date on what our elected leaders are working on during session, and a great opportunity for them to hear from you regarding the business impacts.

Happy Anniversary to Rooted by the Bay!

In case you can’t read the whole thing, my shirt, which was a gift from my sister, says, “Retired but always a pastor at heart.”

Wishing Jim Carberry of Water's Edge Church a Happy Retirement!

After 15 years, the last 12 with me as the pastor, Water’s Edge is closing next Sunday. We had a celebration of God’s faithfulness on Jan. 15 when family, friends, and former church members attended our service to honor Nadine and I as we prepare to retire. This past Sunday, Jan. 22, was a smaller gathering of the Water’s Edge faithful for what would be my final service as pastor. Then this coming Sunday will be the church’s last worship service. (Nadine and I won’t be able to attend, which is why we had the earlier special services.)

I don’t know what else to say except that I have been blessed to be part of the Chamber these past 12 years and am grateful that Water’s Edge could be part of the wonderful Birch Bay community. We’re thankful that we could serve the people of Birch Bay and show them the love of Jesus.
