Bishop Andrew's

Eastertide Appeal

Dear friends,

In springtime, from the cold earth, green sprouts herald a new season of growth.

At Easter, from the dark tomb, Jesus bursts forth to proclaim the victory of God’s limitless love.

In this year’s FaithWorks campaign, we hear of the triumphant struggle of the human soul to overcome human anguish.

We meet Lynne who is struggling with the impact of trauma in her own life, and then the murder of her son. She is now living at Samaritan House in Barrie, a FaithWorks ministry partner. “I’m putting in the work and others are helping me where I can’t.” “I feel like I’m getting stronger and stronger all the time.” “I can’t imagine how I would be if I wasn’t here.”

Kerry Ploughman, Executive Director of Samaritan House, underscores the important relationship between FaithWorks and the work of Samaritan House. “I can’t tell you how much FaithWorks has meant to us over the years in supporting our agency.”

During this season of renewal, we are all called to be agents of healing, growth and regeneration. One opportunity to do so is through FaithWorks. FaithWorks is a program of our Diocese that offers support, comfort and guidance to vulnerable people struggling with life-altering challenges. It reaches out to those who struggle for food and shelter, ex-prisoners, newcomers, refugees, migrant workers, at-risk women, children, youth, those impacted by HIV/AIDS and Indigenous peoples. Almost 49,000 people were impacted by FaithWorks last year. This is an almost 145% increase since 2021.

I encourage you to support FaithWorks and assist Jesus’ mission of renewal. Will you join me and my fellow bishops in this effort by donating to FaithWorks this year? You might even consider a monthly gift.

We are excited to announce that a generous donor has provided a time-limited $100,000 matching challenge grant for all new and increased donations in 2025. This means that for every dollar raised over last year’s amount, by an individual or parish, FaithWorks receives an extra dollar. This will have a significant impact on our ability to respond to increased needs. Don’t delay and let this offer pass by. It is an exceptional opportunity to double your contribution.

FaithWorks is our Diocesan response to Jesus’ call to help others in their struggle for new life. Thank you for helping to make our work possible.

May God bless you in this joyous Easter Season.

Yours in Christ,

The Right Reverend Andrew Asbil

Bishop of Toronto

P.S. At Easter we celebrate our renewal in Jesus through his sacrifice and triumph. Please support FaithWorks’ efforts to offer new life to those whose day-to-day lives are so challenging.
