BCHS honors FLAG students
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foreign Links Around the Globe (FLAG) organization made the difficult decision to send exchange students home. Bishop Chatard is sad to see the following students leave our community, but these young men and women will remain in our prayers as Trojans for Life! Safe travels to Evan Li, David Tan, Tony Rong, Linda Li, John Jiang and Arie Li.
Trojan TED Talks now available online
In February, seven Bishop Chatard students participated in the school's inaugural Student TED Talk program. Inspiring talks ranging in topic from autism to apathy to the power of a passport were explored. Five of the seven talks given are now available online. Check them out!

Our Trojans are finding creative ways to stay busy while at home. Check out some of the videos our classes, teams and students have made. If your students have gathered 'virtually' with their classmates/teammates and made a video, please send to  communications@bishopchatard.org . Click here to view the videos!

Summer 2020 Work Study Information
Citizenship Grants (formerly Summer Work Study) applications are currently on hold and have not yet been posted to the BCHS website. BCHS knows that families depend on these opportunities to help offset tuition, and we will continue to monitor social distancing guidelines before making a decision to offer Citizenship Grant opportunities.

Please contact Karen Feeney,  kfeeney@bishopchatard.org  or Dan Thompson,  dthompson@bishopchatard.org , if you have further questions about financial assistance.
Tech Counter hours during e-Learning
The BCHS Tech Counter will be available “in the cloud” from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on school days. Email  gethelp@bishopchatard.org  with school technology questions. This is available for teachers, students and parents. A response will be provided as quickly as possible.

iPad Updates
Parents, our Tech Team is requesting your help. We have iPad or Apps that are out of date and need to be updated. Typically, the Tech Team pushes these updates remotely, however, with so many devices at home it takes considerably longer to get to all of them.

To that end, we ask for your help with the following:
  • Please make sure your child's iPad is up to date with the latest iOS 13.4. To do this, go to
  • Setting > General > Software Updates > Download & Install (If available)

  • Next, make sure all Apps are up to date. To do this, go to the App “Student” -- it's a purple App with a white leaf.
  • There will be an update section on the right side of the screen
  • Once pressed, you should have the option to update individually or all at once.

Thank you for your assistance in keeping our devices updated so that learning may continue!
Trojans Helping Trojans
Emergency Relief Fund
Bishop Chatard High School launched the Trojans Helping Trojans Emergency Relief Fund last week, and our community response was overwhelming. It is not too late to donate to support Bishop Chatard families directly suffering from a loss of income due to COVID-19. All money donated will directly benefit our school families and allow them to continue their children’s education at Bishop Chatard.  Click here to learn more and make a donation!
Support our Community
Bishop Chatard is grateful for the support of so many! During this difficult time, let’s show our Trojan support for local businesses owned by BCHS alumni, school families and many of our BCHS sponsors and donors. They support BCHS throughout the year, and now it is our turn to support them so that they can keep their business and staff strong. Live like a Trojan! We will remain united and strengthened in our efforts to care for one another.

Course Registration
School Counselors continue to work on course registration for next year, and counselors will be contacting students via email throughout the e-learning school closure to finalize course selections.
Please note counselor assignments for registration:
Work Permit Process during e-Learning
Between now and May 1, the Department of Labor has suspended the requirement for employers to have a work permit for minors they employ on file. Therefore, the Department of Labor and the Bureau of Child Labor inspectors will not hold employers responsible to have a work permit on file for minors employed.

If this suspension is not continued and a permit is needed after May 1, please contact Ame Alerding at aalerding@bishopchatard.org for permit applications. Include the form provided by a prospective employer in the email, and Mrs. Alerding will let students know when they will receive their work permit.
Drivers Education Registration
Drivers Education registration is still open, and at this time the plan is to proceed as scheduled. If that plan changes, we will communicate that as soon as possible. Register here .

Campus Ministry
Service Hour Requirement changes
Due to the current unprecedented health crisis, Bishop Chatard Director of Campus Ministry Steven Patzke, service coordinators Jeff and Jackie Bach, and Vice President of Mission & Ministry Deacon Rick Wagner have altered the BCHS 2019-2020 service hour requirements.

The decision has been made to  waive the service hour requirement for the 2019-2020 school year . All students will receive a ‘C’ (C = complete) on their final grade report.

Many agencies the students would normally serve are not accessible at this time and may not be accessible for the foreseeable future. In addition, it is important to comply with the concept of social distancing, not wanting to put students in potentially unsafe situations. Click here for more information. If there are questions regarding service or MobileServe, please contact Jeff Bach at  jdbach@bishopchatard.org  or Jackie Bach  jbach@bishopchatard.org .
Campus Ministry e-learning resources
Prayer, Scripture study, online Mass, talks, books, and reflections: BCHS Campus Ministry has created an extensive list of resources for growing in one’s faith life while at home. Something for everyone in the family!

We hope you can use any and all of these resources during this time. Click here for more information. Contact Steven Patske at spatzke@bishopchatard.org with any questions.
