Attendance Policy Reminder
Many communities are celebrating St. Patrick's Day this year on Friday, March 13. Bishop Chatard will have a regular school day on March 13, and our attendance policy will apply. Requests for excused absences are required 48 hours prior to the date. Please read Mr. Joe Hansen's letter  here .

TedEd Student Talks at BCHS 
Thursday, Feb. 27 ~ 7 p.m.
Bishop Chatard will be presenting student-delivered TEDTalks on February 27 at 7 p.m. in the Kyle Guyton Theatre. Students will share their inventive ideas to improve the world. Tickets are free. For more information about presenters and to reserve your tickets, click here !
MORP Dance
Friday, Feb. 28 ~ 7 p.m.
BCHS Students are invited to the BCHS MORP Dance on Friday, Feb. 28 , from 7 - 9 p.m. in the Auxiliary Gym. Tickets are $5 and are sold at the door. Attire is casual. Come join the fun!
Give Blood at BCHS
Friday, Feb. 28
8 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.
Consider giving the gift of life by donating during Bishop Chatard's Annual Blood Drive on Friday, Feb. 28. Blood drive will be held in the Auxiliary Gym from 8 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. For more information or to sign up, click here .
Pray with the Trinity Club
Friday, Feb. 28 ~ 7:50 a.m.
BCHS parents are invited to join the Trinity Club next Friday, Feb. 28, in the chapel at 7:50 a.m. We'll start off the Lenten season with a rosary led by the Campus Ministry staff. Rosaries are available or bring your own. It's a wonderful way to start your day!
BCHS offers Drivers Education
Driver Education will be offered this summer at Bishop Chatard. The 2020 Summer Driver's Education Propgram at Bishop Chatard is a state-certified course open to all students who are at least 15 years of age by May 26, 2020. The cost is $400, which includes both the classroom session and the in-car driving sessions. Registration for BCHS students opens Friday, February 28. Registration for non-BCHS students opens on Monday, May 1.

Classroom Sessions: Each student must attend either Session 1 or Session 2 of the classroom portion of the course. Classroom sessions run from 8 to 11 a.m. and includes Saturdays. Session I is scheduled from May 28 to June 7 with makeup days on June 8 and 10. Session 2 is set for June 10 to June 20, with makeup days of June 21 and 22.

In-Car Sessions: These sessions will be scheduled by the student on the first day of class. In-car sessions are available from May 26 through early August 1.

Each student will receive the required forms that allow them to get their drivers education permit from the license branch three weeks before the beginning of class. Questions? Contact Matt Hilton at  mhilton@bishopchatard.org . Click here for more information.
Important Updates about 2020-2021 Registration Deposits & Financial Aid
Reminder:  Financial aid applications  for current families are due by March 10. It is extremely important that you get your application filled out. Don’t forget to use your 2019 tax returns and upload those documents as soon as possible. Even if you will need to extend your tax return, please submit an application and note in the comments section that you are extending. If you are a voucher family, please remember that while the IRS will allow an extension to file your returns to October 15, the state of Indiana requires a 2019 tax return to qualify for the voucher ( our deadline is August 1 ). Dad's Day Breakfast 
Wednesday, March 11
Bishop Chatard Dad's Day Breakfast is honored to welcome Archbishop Charles Thompson as the featured speaker in a special Wednesday edition of the Dad's Day program on March 11! Doors open at 6:00 a.m. Food lines open at 6:15 and the speaker will begin at approximately 6:35. The morning will conclude no later than 7:15 a.m. Cost is only $5 per person, payable at the door. Click here to RSVP!
BCHS Theatre Presents: Guys and Dolls

Bishop Chatard Summer Camp registration is now open!  
Bishop Chatard is offering over a wide variety of sport and enrichment camps this summer. There is something for every interest! Visit Bishop Chatard's  Summer Camp Webpage  to view a list and description of camps, along with details about camp dates, age ranges, cost, available discounts and access to our camp registration page. Early Bird rates in effect until March 20!

Bishop Chatard uses the ACTIVE Online Software for camp registration. If you have registered campers in the past, you will sign in using your username and password. New users will be prompted to create an account when completing their first camp registration. We look forward to seeing your child this summer at Bishop Chatard!
Summer Field Studies 2020
Current Bishop Chatard juniors and seniors are invited to join students from Roncalli and Cardinal Ritter for Summer Field Studies 2020: one part academics, one part adventure, one part retreat. Volunteer Opportunity
BCHS is looking for volunteers to help proctor AP Tests this year! Testing takes place the weeks of May 4 -15
Proctor eligibility criteria is as follows:
  • Proctors must be a responsible, reliable adults with attention to detail.
  • Proctors must NOT have an immediate family member currently enrolled in an AP class.
  • Proctors may NOT participate in any tutoring or coaching activity that addresses the content of a secure College Board test, including AP tests, the PSAT and SAT.
If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering for one or both weeks, please contact our AP Coordinator, Monica Helfrich, by March 20 at  mhelfrich@bishopchatard.org .
Youth Opportunities Fair
On March 16 from noon to 7 p.m., Congressman Carson will host his annual Youth Opportunities Fair at Central Library in downtown Indianapolis. The event will connect young people and their families with 75 employers and community organizations offering job, internship and programming opportunities. Working youth ages 14+ will also have the chance to practice their interviewing skills and gain valuable insight on how to approach potential employers. Youth not yet able to work and their families can learn about local camps and other engagement programs offered during the summer and year-round. PSAT Information
All students who took the PSAT in October have now received their score reports and booklets; students have been instructed to access their scores online and take advantage of related resources including test prep; scholarship opportunities; career, major and college exploration; and more. Click here for more information!
Cultural Opportunity

Caffeination Station
Thursday, Feb. 27 ~ 7:15 a.m.
All students and staff are invited to the cafeteria on Thursday, Feb. 27 beginning at 7:15 a.m. for Campus Ministry's Caffeination Station! There will be coffee, decaf, and hot cocoa, with a variety of different flavors to sweeten up your cup of Joe! Everyone is encouraged to bring homework or friends as a way to build community before school with a hot beverage!
Class of 2020 Grandparent Mass
Grandparents and grandchildren alike enjoy this special morning on March 25, as they gather for the school Mass, with a light reception following Mass. Check-in begins at 8:15 a.m. Mass begins at 9 a.m. Parking will be available on the east (school) side of Crittenden Ave., in the back parking lot and in the Christ the King Church parking lot. Community Service Day
Community Service Day is a BCHS tradition when the entire school community takes time to serve around Indianapolis at shelters, parishes, parks and other agencies. This year's Community Service Day is on March 20 . Permission slips can be completed here . All students participate in Community Service Day. Questions? Volunteers needed
Campus Ministry relies on the help of many parent volunteers to chaperone (ride on buses) and/or drive (transport students) on this day. It is a fantastic opportunity to spend time with students and other parents while supporting a worthy cause. Parents will be paired up with BCHS staff at the various locations. The duration of the day is approximately 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

We are looking for volunteers to sign up by Feb. 28 . Campus Ministry will map out drivers and locations and get back with you individually with specifics prior to the event. Please consider joining us! Click here to sign up!

Bishop Chatard Softball Winter Camp

All softball players, grades 1 – 8, are invited to the 2020 BCHS Winter Softball Camp on Saturday, Feb. 29. Join us to learn and work on the basics of the game from our high school team and coaches. North Deanery Girls Basketball Spring Workouts
All North Deanery Girls Basketball players, grades 6-8, are invited to our North Deanery Spring Workouts, from March 3 to April 29 in the BCHS gym. Sessions are free. No registration is needed. Tryouts for Boys Volleyball
All boys are invited to try out, regardless of experience and skill level. Important: a ticket to play is required to attend the tryouts. Tryouts will continue from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the Varsity Gym through Thursday, Feb. 27, or until the rosters are filled. Regular season practices begin on Monday, March 2. Boys Soccer call-out meeting
There will be a call-out/parent meeting for any boy interested in playing soccer next season on Monday, March 16, at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. The upcoming summer schedule and expectations for the 2020 season will be topics covered in this meeting. Hope to see you there!

CYO Tournament

Good News to Share
Congratulations to Jillian Hurley
Junior, Jillian Hurley achieved a gold rating with a nearly perfect score at the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) State Vocal Solo and Ensemble Festival competition. Congratulations Jillian!
Bishop Chatard Celebrates Black History Month
The Black Student Union hosted a “Cultural Dance of West Africa” workshop with Arts for Learning dancer  Ronne Stone  on Monday, Feb. 24. All who attended had the opportunity to explore the history and culture of West Africa through dance and learn to communicate through movement.
Remembering Kyle Guyton
In between the JV and Varsity basketball games on Tuesday, Feb. 25, Stephanie Allen-Stevenson and her band "Composition" performed a half hour set of soul, jazz and Gospel classics in remembrance of alumni and teacher, Kyle Guyton. A native of Indianapolis, Stephanie Allen-Stevenson has graced stages all over the U.S as well as Europe.  Learn more about the performance here.
