Early Dismissal Nov. 7
In preparation for the 2019 Open House, Bishop Chatard will release students at 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7 . In order to have the building cleaned, prepped and ready for our Open House, all students must leave the school building by 1:30 p.m. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Principal Joe Hansen at jhansen@bishopchatard.org.
BCHS hosts Open House Nov. 7
Families of middle school students are invited to join the students and staff of Bishop Chatard High School on Thursday, Nov. 7, for our 2019 Fall Open House. At this year’s Open House, guests will tour the school with a BCHS student, talk with teachers and administrators, and learn about the 125 diverse courses and over 50 clubs and athletic teams that have helped make Bishop Chatard one of the top college prep high schools in Indianapolis. 
Tours will begin in the BCHS varsity gym at 5:30 p.m., with the last tour leaving at 7:30 p.m. While exploring the campus, our guests will have a chance to learn about the unique academic programs offered, enjoy musical and student improv performances, meet team coaches and club moderators, and talk with recent graduates about how Bishop Chatard prepared them for college.

Honoring our Veterans  
Throughout the year, the Bishop Chatard community honors the military veterans who have served our nation, and we continue to pray for the safety of the men and women serving in today’s Armed Forces.
As a small thank you for service to our country, we will honor members of the military, along with their family members, at our annual  Veteran’s Day Mass on Thursday, Nov. 14 , at 9:55 a.m. There will be a reception in the cafeteria for all military family members and veterans following Mass. 

Veteran's Day Concert will be held on Monday, Nov. 11,  at 7 p.m. Please join the BCHS Concert Band and Choir for this patriotic salute!

Football Sectional Championship at BC
Nov. 8 ~ 7 p.m.
Football Sectional Championship contest with defending State Champ West Lafayette is being played at Bishop Chatard's Stadium this Friday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. 
Tickets are $6 and NO BCHS passes or Student IDs are accepted for IHSAA Tournament events, so stop by our Athletic Office to get your ticket early! We are expecting a big crowd.
BCHS Canned Food Drive
Nov. 8 - 14
It’s that time of year again! The annual Thanksgiving Canned Food Drive will be taking place from Nov. 8 through Nov. 14. All donations can be brought in before school to the main gym.
This year, the Bishop Chatard community is helping five organizations that serve some of the most vulnerable members of our Indianapolis community. Organizations need the following: Canned veggies, canned fruit, pork and beans, cereal, rice, any kind of boxed dinners, saltine crackers, canned soups, tissues, peanut butter, jelly, dried beans, canned fruit, canned pasta, spaghetti, paper towels, etc.

BCHS Black Student Union welcomes Ryan Reid
Monday, Nov. 11
BCHS's Black Student Union is sponsoring guest speaker Mr. Ryan Reid on Monday, Nov. 11. All students are welcome! The presentation will be held in room 103 at 3:30 p.m.
Mr. Reid will be talking to BCHS students about his college and career path in finance and sales. He is currently Director of Advisor Solutions Group for Janus Henderson Investors, partnering with financial advisors through a highly consultative approach. He has a Bachelor's Degree from Oakwood College/University (a HBCU) and a Master's Degree from Webster University and is a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity.
2021 Spring Break trip planning meeting Nov. 19
While the Spring Break trip to Spain and Portugal is still months away, planning is already underway for a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Germany and Italy!
An informational meeting will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 6 p.m. in the BCHS Art Room. Discounts for signing up early are available, so now is the time to consider this fabulous experience for your student or the entire family.

Dad's Day Breakfast
Friday, Nov. 22
Bishop Chatard Dad's Day Breakfast welcomes special guest Greg Mark as our featured speaker on Friday, Nov. 22. Greg was recently highlighted in the Archdiocesan newspaper,  The Criterion . Greg will share the story of the near-death experience that left him blind at the age of 25 — an experience that changed his life and his faith.
Greg is a former BCHS parent. His daughter and son-in-law both work at BCHS. Daughter Allison Mayer serves as the Administrative Assistant to the principal's office and son-in-law Tyler Mayer serves as Executive Vice President.
Please RSVP by noon on Monday, Nov. 18. Doors open at 6 a.m. Food lines open at 6:15 a.m. Speaker will begin at approximately 6:35 a.m. and the morning will conclude no later than 7:15 a.m. Cost is only $5 per person, payable at the door. Click here to RSVP!
Thanksgiving Day Meal Project
Bishop Chatard will again be making 350 warm Thanksgiving meals for the David S. Moore Food Pantry and other needy organizations, to be distributed on Thanksgiving Day. We need a few hands to help make this a success. 
  • Volunteers are needed for kitchen help and cleanup, service line, making desserts and delivering the meals at various times from 7:30 – 11:00 a.m. If volunteering, prepare to be flexible with the tasks.
  • Donate a dessert to the meal. Desserts can be delivered to BCHS on Tues., Nov. 26, between 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Sponsorships to help fund the meal are also being accepted.
Chatard-a-Bration Gift Gathering Parties
Gift gathering parties are under way! Two class parent parties will be held in November: The Class of 2022 on Nov. 16 and the Class of 2023 on Nov. 9. Click here to find out more information about this year's Chatard-A-Bration and for details on specific class parties!
Alumni Lunch Presentation
Students are invited to visit with Mike Jansen '81 on November 20 during all lunch periods in the St. Benedict Center Conference Room. Mr. Jansen will be presenting on his career journey as a video producer, voice talent and stadium announcer for the Indianapolis Colts. Your student must register using his or her BCHS gmail account to attend during the scheduled lunch period. Congratulations Trojan Girls Cross Country Team
The Trojans wrapped up their historic season by placing 11th at the 2019 state finals in Terre Haute on Nov. 2. Freshman Lily Cridge earned all-state honors by placing 8th, the highest place for an individual in BCHS history. Lily’s teammates Emily Loiselle, Mary Bea Sowinski, Alex Gantz, Mayan Stickel, Caroline Bell, and Miranda Stickel all had great races as well and contributed the team’s impressive success this season. Congrats Trojans!
Trojan Wrestling Parent Info Night
Tuesday, Nov. 12
An Information night for parents of wrestlers will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 6 p.m. in the Bishop Chatard Cafeteria. Information about all aspects of the season will be covered. 
North Deanery Night for Girls Basketball
Thursday, Nov. 14
The Bishop Chatard Girls Basketball Team will host a North Deanery Night on Thursday, Nov. 14. Join us to cheer on the Trojans as we host Mt. Vernon in the first game of the 2019-2020 season. Jr. Trojan girls basketball team members and girls interested in basketball are invited to come for pizza in the BCHS cafeteria at 6 p.m. and stay for the varsity game at 7:30 p.m. Girls are invited to join the Bishop Chatard team for a pregame talk and starting lineup announcements. Of course, there will be Trojan SWAG for our guests!

Jr. Trojan Volleyball girls open gyms and tryout information!
There will be an open gym for girls interested in volleyball at Bishop Chatard on Sunday, Nov. 10, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. The open gym will be for girls in grades 6 - 8. Cost for the open gym will be $10. 
Tryouts are being held on Sunday, Nov. 17, 11:00 a.m. - 1 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20, and Thursday, Nov. 21, from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Try outs cost $50 for all three sessions. Please e mail club director, Ellen Schroeder, at  eschroeder@bishopchatard.org  with any questions!

Central Indiana Knights presents: Hat Trick for the Homeless

Come support the Central Indiana Knight's hockey team on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 6:15 p.m. at The Fuel Tank. The team will also be collecting hats for the homeless. 2019 National Catholic Youth Conference
Volunteers Needed!
Every other year, 20,000+ Catholic young people and their chaperones come together to pray, learn and grow in their faith at the National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) in Indianapolis. This year’s conference will be held November 21-23 at the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium. As the host diocese, we need 1,000 volunteers throughout the three days to serve in a variety of roles. A complete list of volunteer needs including descriptions, requirements, shifts and times can be found here!
