Hearing Tests for Sophomores
Sophomores will be having hearing tested on Thursday, Sept. 26, and Friday, Sept. 27, during Theology classes. These are the only two days that testing will take place. Please contact Monica Meyer at mmeyer@bishopchatard.org if you have any questions.
Dad's Day Breakfast
The first Dad’s Day Breakfast of 2019-2020, a program affiliated with the national organization All-Pro Dad ( www.allprodad.com ), will be held on Friday, Sept. 27. Dad’s Day Breakfast program is a great opportunity for dads to share a meal with their children before heading off to work for the day. The first guest speaker will be BCHS Football Coach Rob Doyle. Become Involved in Trinity Club!
The Bishop Chatard Trinity Club is the original parent organization at BCHS, and it is still going strong today. Engagement in the Trinity Club enables parents to stay actively involved in the lives of students and the Bishop Chatard School community. Senior Parents Gift Gathering Party
Parents of the BCHS Class of 2020 are invited to a Chatard-A-Bration Gift-Gathering Party on Friday, Oct. 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the north end zone of the BCHS football stadium.   Click here to donate and for more information. RSVP by Oct. 14.

Senior Directed One-Act Plays
Applications for the Senior Directed One-Acts are now available. Seniors wishing to direct a one-act play need to complete the application by Friday, Oct. 4 . Auditions to perform in the one-act plays will be held Tuesday, Oct. 29, with the performances taking place in the Kyle Guyton Theatre on Saturday, Dec. 7. Questions? Program for Girls Interested in Engineering
On Saturday, Oct. 5, Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis, along with the Women in Engineering at Lilly, will be teaming up to provide girls age 9 to 16 with exciting program activities in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Click here for more information. Register here!
College Fair Registration
Local college fairs offer a great opportunity for families to learn more about colleges and universities nationwide. Mark your calendar and plan to attend as your schedule allows. College and Career Information
Counselors will be distributing "Learn More" student guides to all freshmen & sophomores, and "IN Next" guides to juniors & seniors this week. These valuable guides contain pertinent information about high school, the college search, financial aid, and career exploration. Parents and students can also access  learnmoreindiana.org  for related resources from the Indiana Dept. of Education and the Indiana Commission for Higher Education. PSAT/SAT Information
All students in grades 9 - 11 will take the PSAT on Wednesday, Oct. 16 . Although this test is not required, it is a tremendous opportunity to practice the SAT. It is paid for by the state of Indiana. Juniors can qualify for the National Merit Scholarship program by attaining high scores (details in student guides). Parents are asked to not schedule doctor or dentist appointments for your students during this testing time. Students will be dismissed for the day around 11:30 a.m. Find more information on PSAT/SAT testing here!

New this year! Bishop Chatard will offer the SAT on October 16 for Seniors only. Information about the test has been emailed to seniors by Mr. Reilly.
"Exploring" Your Career
"Exploring" is a unique career exploration program that provides students with opportunities to learn about a wide variety of career fields and network with professionals already working in those fields. Local partner businesses and organizations initiate Explorer "Posts," ongoing regularly scheduled classes/interactive programs, by matching their staff and program resources to the interests of young people, and provide hands-on and interactive character and career activities facilitated by career professionals. BCHS students may receive invitations (via email or U.S. mail) to Explorer Post open houses based on a questionnaire they took last spring.  Explorer magazines, listing all open houses, Explorer Post descriptions, and program contacts are available in the Counseling Office. Christian Service Hours during Fall Break!
Fall break is a great time for students to complete Christian Service Hours. Sophomores, juniors and seniors are encouraged to visit this site for opportunities to plug into during free time while on break! Some of these sites count for outreach hours! Freshmen students will receive more information regarding their Christian Service requirement in the coming weeks.
Students Interested in Social Justice
All are welcome to join the Pro-Life Club beginning with the first event, the "Celebrate Life Dinner." This free gala will be on Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 6 - 9 p.m. is for open to only seven BCHS students. The evening includes appetizers, dinner, and dessert, followed by a speaker. Bishop Chatard will provide transportation to and from the Marriott Hotel Downtown. Since space is limited, the first seven students to email Mr. Steven Patzke at spatzke@bishopchatard.org will have their seats reserved.
iPad Software Update
There is a new software update available for students iPads. Parents are asked to help in assisting their children to update their iPads to version 12.4.1 by tapping Settings > General > Software Update > Instal l update. Please make sure the iPad is connected to power using the iPad Power Adapter. If you are running into any concerns, please reach out the the Tech Counter at  GetHelp@bishopchatard.org .

BCHS Fall Theatre Tickets Now Available
Reserved seating tickets are now on sale!
Bishop Chatard thespians will present "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Abridged" on Thursday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. and on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Reserved tickets are now on sale.  Visit our Theatre webpage  to learn more about this unique presentation of Shakespeare's complete works! Alumni Lunch Presentation
Students are invited to visit with Mike Jansen '81 on November 20 during all lunch periods in the St. Benedict Center Conference Room. Mr. Jansen will be presenting on his career journey as a video producer, voice talent and stadium announcer for the Indianapolis Colts. Your student must register using his or her BCHS gmail account to attend during the scheduled lunch period. Trojan Class of 2024 Admissions Opportunities
A variety of information sessions and educational opportunities exist for prospective students to learn about Bishop Chatard High School. Student Shadowing, Parent Information Nights, Wednesday Walk-Thru sessions and our Annual Open House give families a chance to a sk questions and visit either in the evening or during the school day. Sessions begin in September!
If you have a middle school student who would like to shadow or attend one of these sessions, please visit our Enrollment webpage to learn more and register. We also certainly appreciate you sharing this information with families in your parish or community who have younger children. It's almost Open House time! Let's get our community ready by  displaying a Bishop Chatard Open House sign at your home and/or a visible area.  Yard   signs can be picked up  inside door #1 and door #10. Please pick one or two up today!

Athletic News & Events
Order Personalized BCHS Jackets
The BCHS Athletic Booster Club is selling personalized sideline jackets and blankets for all sports! The jackets are knee-length and fleece lined. The blankets are wind/water resistant on one side and fleece on the other side. There is an option to personalize the jacket with a name, number and/or sport, and the blanket with a sport graphic under the Trojan helmet.
Orders can be emailed or dropped off at the Athletic Office. Form and payment is due by Sept. 30 . Order here!
Save the Date: Jr. Trojan Girls Basketball Tryouts
Tryouts are being held at Bishop Chatard on Sunday, Sept. 29, for the girls Jr. Trojans winter league. This league is for girls in grades 5 - 8. Cost for the season is $150 per player. Schedules will be provided after the game schedule is set, and games will be held at various locations throughout the season.

Grades 7 and 8 will try out from 1 - 2 p.m. and grades 5 and 6 will try out from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. Grades 5 - 8 will be a true tryout with at least one team per grade level. Please email Coach Katie Fisher at kfisher@bishopchatard.org with any questions. Go Jr. Trojans!

Christ the King Parish, in partnership with the other North Deanery churches, will sponsor "The Shroud Encounter" with Russ Breault on Saturday, Sept. 28 , at 6:30 p.m. in Christ the King's Tuohy Hall. Click here to learn more and register.
2019 National Catholic Youth Conference
Join 25,000 teens from around the country for an exciting, three-day experience of prayer, community, and empowerment for Catholic youth, grades 9-12. The schedule includes general sessions, workshops, and opportunities for reconciliation, daily liturgy, and special activities such as concerts, a dance and comedy club.
