Dear Parents/Guardians,

We have received notification that two students at Bishop Moore Catholic High School have tested positive for COVID-19. We are working with our local department of health and the Diocesan Office of Catholic Schools in this matter. Please know that confidentiality laws prevent us from disclosing the names of the individuals that have tested positive for coronavirus.

Because of safety measures put in place such as restricted movement, masks, frequent hand washing, social distancing, contained classrooms, etc., we believe that all high risk factors have been contained. Parents of students who have come into close contact with the affected students have been notified and have been instructed to quarantine their student as directed by the health department. If you did not receive previous notification, the students diagnosed have not been in close proximity with your student.

In the meantime, all other classes and activities are proceeding as normal, with strategic social distancing and the highest safety protocols in place.

We understand that this news can be unsettling and cause for concern. Remember that the best plan for addressing the COVID-19 virus is to remain informed and follow these steps set forth by the Center for Disease Control (CDC).
  • Avoid close contact with others, maintaining six-feet distance if possible.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover when around others.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily.
  • Monitor your health and be alert for symptoms. Watch for fever, cough, shortness of breath, or other symptoms of COVID-19. Follow CDC guidance if symptoms develop.

The impact of the COVID-19 virus is a very dynamic and fluid situation. Because the health and well-being of our students and staff are our highest priorities, Bishop Moore Catholic will continue to work closely with local and state public health officials, as well as the CDC following their recommendations on containing the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

And, as we continue to navigate through these stressful times, let us keep our focus on God. Throughout Scripture and in the readings of the saints, we discover time after time how God is present and active in our lives during times of trial. Let us remember this as we keep these students and their families in our prayers.

In Christ,

Dr. Erika Wikstrom
Principal, Bishop Moore Catholic High School
