Watterson 101: Get to Know BWHS! 
   
Did you know Bishop Watterson offers 159 courses? We want our students to excel and find their strengths and interests en route to their future careers. We do that by offering courses -- from the arts through world languages -- that meet their needs and abilities as well as their interests!

Parent Volunteer Opportunity 
Mothers' Club is looking for volunteers for the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, September 30. A detailed list of duties and times are listed on the Mothers' Club Shutterfly page (Click here then click on Shutterfly). Signups will be on a first-come, first-served basis. All moms and DADS are welcome! Thank you for supporting our Bishop Watterson community.
 
Dance Reminders
A reminder to all students planning to attend the Homecoming Dance on September 30.

HOMECOMING and Prom Attire for Bishop Watterson Students and Guests
 
Ladies
Dresses are to be modest and befitting a Catholic school.
Strapless gowns may be worn if modest.
Dresses not permitted to be worn are:
a. Tight-fitting, cut-outs in the front or side of the dress or backless, show midriffs
b. Gowns that have see-through panels or unlined transparent fabric
c. Dresses SHORTER THAN 4 inches above the knee
No exposed tattoos
No costumes
Gentlemen
Long dress pants and dress shirts required (Jackets for Prom)
No earrings and/or exposed tattoos permitted
No costumes
No tennis shoes
Students not adhering to these guidelines will not be admitted to the dance and no refunds will be given.
Please be advised that the administration will be enforcing these rules. Students, as well as guests, who are inappropriately dressed will be sent home and parents will be notified.

Have you logged into PowerSchool AND signed up for PowerSchool Learning? PowerSchool Learning is where you will find your child's assignments for the day. Gauging Interest in Technology Club  

 
Bishop Watterson is considering renting space at the  Past Foundation, an education-based research and development facility for engineering and technology-related extracurriculars.  If you're a student and interested in participating, or a parent that's interested in mentoring, please let us know if you are interested in getting involved by emailing us at technologyclub@bwhs.org.

Arts News  
Time for the Band Fall Sub Sale 
Please help support the Marching Eagles by purchasing delicious Italian subs made on Auddino's buns! The subs are $5.00 each and can be ordered from any marching band or guard member. Subs will be delivered on Saturday, October 21. If you do not eat subs, consider buying some to donate to the Holy Family Food Pantry. We donate over 500 subs every fall and spring. Orders will be taken through Friday, October 6. If you would like to order and don't know a band or guard member, please contact band parent Susan Schnell at schnell.2@osu.edu or

Senior Activity is October 10 
 
Seniors are invited to spend the evening at Magic Mountain Polaris on Tuesday, Oct. 10 from 7:00-10:00 p.m. The $21 cost includes go-carts from 7:00-9:00 p.m., and miniature golf and laser tag from 7:00-9:30 p.m. One slice of pizza and one drink are included.
To reserve a spot, fill out the form and send in to BWHS with payment of $21 (checks to BWHS) to the attention of senior class advisor Mrs. Beth Simmonds.
40 Days For Life
40 Days for Life begins on Wednesday, September 27 and ends on Sunday, November 5.
Theology teacher David Klemm is organizing the Bishop Watterson community to pray at Founder's Women's Health Center at 1243 E. Broad Street on Sunday, October 8 and Sunday, November 5 from 1:00-3:00. The center is closed on Sundays. Parking is available on the side street just east of the center.
All are invited to join in this peaceful, prayerful and meaningful experience. Bring a friend and a rosary and stay for just 15 minutes or the entire two hours to show your support for the most vulnerable members of the human family: the unborn.

Worth Repeating
Time to Sign Up for Kairos  
Time to sign up for the first Kairos Senior Retreat!
This optional retreat is Oct. 10-13 at Sts. Peter and Paul Retreat Center, with students leaving after school on Tuesday, Oct. 10 and returning by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct.13.
 
Kairos is an optional 3 ½ day retreat designed to allow students to reflect on their lives and their relationships with others and with God. Over the past several years, our students have shared that Kairos is one of their most meaningful and memorable experiences from their time at Bishop Watterson. Some students have called the experience life changing.
 
Registration for the fall retreat closes on Friday, September 22 to allow us time to complete our preparations.

Senior Yearbook Portraits
 
Cilento Photography will be at Bishop Watterson on Wednesday, October 11 from 8:00-11:00 a.m. to photograph seniors who have not previously been photographed for the yearbook. Please have your senior sign up in room 105 with Mrs. Rush or email Mrs. Rush at jerush@cdeducation.org with a preferred time. Reminders will be sent out on Monday of that week.  
School is not in session for seniors on October 11. If you plan a college visit, set up a portrait time for early that day. For those who want to sleep late, sign up right away as late slots fill quickly.

Signs of Suicide Training Program
Date is Now Wednesday, October 25  
 
We are fortunate to bring a program from Nationwide Children's Hospital called "Signs of Suicide." This is a program that will teach and encourage all students to notice signs in themselves and their friends who are at risk so they can get the necessary help. Parents, please save the date of Wednesday, October 25 at 7:00 p.m., for a parent education night to learn more about the program and how you can support your student and this community.
A parent letter will be sent home in October and the program will be rolled out to students October 30-31 in Theology classes.
