Caring & Sharing Collection ENDS FRIDAY

Dear Parents:

St. Vincent de Paul Society is collecting toiletries for the Holy Family Soup Kitchen November 28-December 9. During this time period there will be a box in the chapel lobby for donations. The Holy Family Soup Kitchen is in need of many personal hygiene items to help those in need. In order to provide a variety of items we are asking for the following:
  • Seniors to bring in socks and gloves
  • Juniors to bring in shampoo and conditioner
  • Sophomores to bring in soap, razors and shaving cream
  • Freshmen to bring in toothpaste and toothbrushes
On December 10 at 10:00 a.m. in the Bishop Watterson cafeteria, the St. Vincent de Paul Society will be filling the gift bags with the donated items. Anyone who can volunteer their time to help us fill the bags would be appreciated. It is a great opportunity to share the Christmas spirit. Thank you for your help in making someone's Christmas bright.
Your kindness and generosity is appreciated.

Merry Christmas!!

BWHS Students on St. Gabriel Radio

Four of our students will be on St. Gabriel Radio AM 820 tomorrow, Thursday, December 8 at 12:30 p.m. to discuss our St. Joseph of Arimathea Society. Bishop Watterson's SJA Society, in its fifth year, is the only one of its kind in central Ohio. The show will re-air Sunday, December 11 at 1:30 p.m.

In addition, the students participated in a show called "Guys Only: Purity" which will
air on Thursday, December 15 at 12:30 p.m. and will re-air on Sunday, December 18 at 1:30 p.m.
Business Club Sunday with Santa

The BWHS Business Club moved its annual Sunday with Santa to the Ronald McDonald House at Nationwide Children's Hospital this year and it was a great success! Twenty-seven of our students built gingerbread houses, made ornaments and decorated cookies with the families.
Sophomore Headed to AKC National Championship

Sophomore Claire Mitchell and her two-year-old golden retriever named Cruise will be on their way to Orlando next week to compete in the AKC National Championship December 17-18. Claire, now the sixth-ranked Junior Handler in the U.S., competes in a class open to ages 9-18. She has also shown Cruise in his breed category, competing against all ages. They compete in obedience, agility, dock diving and field work events.

"Cruise has been a really good dog for me to learn with because, while some kids get a dog who is already trained, I've had to learn everything from the beginning which makes it rewarding," Claire said. "I don't always know what to expect when I walk in the ring because he gives me something different to work with every time. It's hard with him because he's a crazy puppy."

Cruise has won best in breed in competition and together Claire and Cruise have won five competitions and finished second at three more, all in and around Ohio. In addition, they have earned various other titles and certifications including the therapy dog certification. Hopefully they will cruise to a great finish at nationals next week!

Finals Schedule Changes

Although it may be difficult to believe, semester exams will be here before we know it! After careful consideration, we have adjusted our exam schedule. Rather than testing by subjects on specific days, we will be going by class periods. Students will benefit by remaining in the classroom with their core teacher during each exam, enabling them to ask questions during the test.

Non-Core
During the week of final exams, non-core classes will still take place and have an extended period of time in which they can engage in project-based learning for that particular subject. As usual, the non-core finals will not be taken until January during their regularly scheduled class periods.

Extended Time
Those students who are permitted extended time for exams will also begin their exams in their regular classrooms and then be permitted extra time to finish their exams, if needed.

Finals Schedule
Each exam will still be taken within a 90-minute time frame and students will be taking a maximum of two exams per day. Below is the schedule for semester finals. Please note that all students are expected to be present each day, even if they do not have a scheduled exam for a specific period (for example, study hall or a non-core class). School will begin at the normal time of 7:50 a.m. and we will dismiss each day at 12:55 p.m. As a reminder, students who are permitted extended time on exams may not be finished by dismissal time. All students will be given a break time in between exams in which they may bring a snack or purchase pizza provided by the National Honor Society.

Monday, December 12: Periods 1 and 2
Tuesday, December 13:Periods 3 and 4
Wednesday, December 14:Periods 5 and 6
Thursday, December 15: Periods 7 and 8
