Our official photo of Dedication/Confirmation Sunday, August 26, 2018. Of course, a preacher's kid (PK as they are known) stole the show!!

Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing. Yes, Jesus came and blessed us magnanimously on Sunday. Bishop Roger and Gretsie graced our presence once again, when we enjoyed their spirit of joy and Bishop's sermon on building God's community, one soul at a time.

New young members Brandon, Sam, Victor, Joy, Daniel, and Mercy were confirmed by Bishop. With their parents surrounding their children, he spoke a word of prophetic challenge to each confirmand. Those who knew these children well realized that Bishop --who did not know them well -- had insight from the Lord about the future challenges he delivered to each boy and girl. After the confirmation, Fr. Kevin presented each new member with prayer beads crafted by Dr. Monroe and Judy Dowling. The Spirit of the Lord was in our midst Sunday!

And of course, we celebrated Fr. Philip's US citizenship with cake and congratulations. Philarice's citizenship day will be September 11th at the federal courthouse downtown.

Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing, Tune Our Hearts to Sing Your Praise on this most blessed of occasions in the life of St. Augustine's.

Ministry Dedication/Fall Kick-Off Sunday
is September 9th.
All ministry leaders will be blessed for the coming year in this annual service.
As Father Gatwood announced Sunday, the 9th of September will be the Gatwoods' last Sunday with us.   Along with the Hardins , they will  launch a new church plant  on the west side of Columbus beginning the 16th. Accordingly,  we will say our goodbyes   to the Gatwoods and Hardins  and send them off with our support and prayers.  Saying goodbye properly is a critical component  in relationships so please do come out and say your goodbyes to these faithful families who seek to do the Lord’s work. Father Gatwood will preach and preside at the eucharist that day.

Trail Life USA is a Christian outdoor adventure, character and leadership program for boys and young men and will serve as a ‘brother group’ for our new AHG Troop. We are looking for men (young and old!) who’re willing to step up and fill mentoring and leadership opportunities within our new Troop. There are multiple opportunities to be a part of this exciting new youth ministry program at St. Augustine’s!

Because this program is boy-led, and boy-focused, we need you gents to pitch in to make it a success!    We are in immediate need of someone who wishes to take the role of Troop Chaplain, and serve as an assistant Troopmaster, helping Fr. Terry Gatwood, Benjamin Winkler and the rest of the board.

Please take a moment to read more about Trail Life on their website:   traillifeusa.com

If you are interested in helping in any role with our Trail Life or American Heritage Girls programs, please email  Wendy Winkler  as she will serve as the St. Augustine’s contact for both organizations.
As you keep our young people in your prayers, consider participating in a new ministry we are going to begin no later than the fall. It’s called Engage and you can read a quick description about it  here . Engage pairs adults with youth to read the Bible one on one, talk about it what you’ve read/what it means for you, and to pray together. This is a great chance to develop significant new relationships as you participate in an important new ministry for the life and health of our parish and to see first-hand the power of God’s word at work.
