Attitude is the difference between adventure and an ordeal - Bob Bitchin
|
Let's have some fun! Sailing, riding the highways on two (or three!) wheels, and adventure travel are the best ways I have found to spend my life, so I figured I'd see who else out there is as nuts as I am.
So, in a nutshell I plan on sending this Newsletter once a month (don't wanna over-do this thing!) And plan on including all kinds of fun stuff. Photos, article on cruising, sailing, riding and travel, as well as cartoons about our crazy way of life.
Need Input!
This newsletter is to keep communication open so we can share the fun times of our lives. Have fun last week riding a new road? Send in a pic or short article. Found a new island, or hit bad weather? Send in a story with pics, and we'll get it into this somewhere! So people can enjoy your adventure!
Just like the dozen magazines I've created and run over the years, this is not telling you what to do, it is telling you WHY WE DO IT!
If you like it, kewl. If you don't, or just have any suggestions, please email me at: bob@seafaring.com, and let me know!
Enjoy the ride!

After Over 40 Years At Sea Dismasted... On A Lake??
|
Yup! The other day we had winds topping 100 MPH here in Northern California. On The Bitchin Ranch we lost the roof off one of the outbuildings, and a lot of "stuff" blown all over the place, but meanwhile, SV Attitude, our San Juan 28, was dismasted in the slip! Oh joy! What fun! (NOT!)

Captain Bob: The 3rd Day (42.4 minutes, Hi-Res) VIDEO!
Brotherhood Of Outlaws-Get Your Copy Now!
|
Before I went sailing, I went riding... This is the very first Treb Lincoln Novel. This novel has been called the most true-to-life look at the outlaw motorcycle culture to come out of the 70s. The start of the Treb Lincoln Saga. Fast paced and as informative as it is entertaining. Steve McQueens "Solar Productions" was in the middle of casting it for a full-length feature film, when he died, so it was never finished (sigh)!

Sailing Maine Aboard Distant Star
Islands, Islands and More Islands, and The Mystery Rubber Ducks of Belfast!
by Bob Bitchin
| | |
|
|
It all started with a phone call from our friends Tom & Sharon Brownell who were in Belfast, Maine, asking if we wanted to sail with them for a week or so before heading to the Newport Boat Show. It took about a half-second to agree, and soon we were winging our way from California to Maine.
On arrival we were met by our friends Jeff &Debbie Kolod, who were going to be sailing with us. Over the past twenty years we had sailed all over the world on our “Share The Sail” events in places like Tahiti, Greece, New Zealand, Tonga & The Caribbean.

After 50,000, Our Last Sail!
by Chuck Ritenour
As we all know all things come to an end someplace along the line. And if you really think about it life is like chapters in a book. From birth to elementary and high school to college or military or career to a family. Each chapter is individual for each and each a separate chapter.
The crew of SoulMates has written the final pages of their incredible voyage after 15 years, over 50,000nm and sailing to over 53 different countries. It is known that when you step on a boat sooner or later you have to get off and it became time for this crew to disembark, but not at the same time. After crossing the Atlantic westbound in January 2020 and eventually settling in Grenada to wait out the virus it became apparent that Patty should leave SoulMates. A combination of facts saw Patty leave SoulMates move to Denver for family and medical treatment. She eventually had hip surgery, a lot of therapy and moved into a retirement community.
