The Committee heard previously from the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network ("FinCEN"), the FBI and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency ("OCC") on the benefits of collecting beneficial ownership information. "

With the recent unveiling of Facebook’s Libra cryptocurrency raising regulatory questions, France is forming a task force within the Group of Seven (G7) nations to examine the issues.

Reuters reports Friday, that the governor of the French central bank, Francois Villeroy de Galhau, indicated the crypto task force would be headed by European Central Bank board member Benoit Coeure and would look at how cryptocurrencies are regulated to avoid money laundering and other problems. "



"Slack's journey to the public market was unconventional, with its Thursday direct listing that eschewed the traditional initial public offering process. 

A prominent venture capitalist, Benchmark Capital partner Bill Gurley, is now applauding the launch, pushing the direct listing approach, and even boosting one of Slack's financial advisers in the process.

"If your company is interested in a direct-listing, recommend you call Morgan Stanley," Gurley said Thursday in a tweet thread. "Other banks want to position direct listings as 'exceptional' or 'rare.' MS believes they are 1) a better mousetrap, and 2) can be used broadly.'"


"The reality is that raising money based on either outright fabrication or by materially misrepresenting the business can be attacked both by criminal prosecution and civil litigation. Securities laws provide help in that regard in cases where the representations made by the issuer deviate from what is required, and those representations are material to the investment decision.

When required disclosures are not relevant to the investment decision, those rules provide little help. This leads directly to the second point: "

Thousands of digital assets have been created over the years, but bitcoin is certainly the largest, its total market capitalization (market cap) surpassing $190 billion at the time of this writing.
