Leading with Purpose: Women Shaping Truckee

Wow! What a great Good Morning Truckee today, featuring an inspiring panel of women leaders who are making an impact across our community.

Moderated by Truckee Mayor Anna Klovstad, the candid conversation brought together Jennifer Callaway, Truckee Town Manager; Joan Jones, President of Jones-Corda Construction; Kristin Krone, Founder and Owner of Wild Cherries Coffee House; Stephanie Nistler, CEO of the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe; Jessica Penman, President and CEO of the Truckee Chamber of Commerce; and Annie Rosenfeld, General Manager of Tahoe Donner Association.

Panelists shared stories from their leadership journeys, including how they found their voices as leaders, challenges and opportunities they’ve encountered along the way, lessons they’ve learned, and their perspectives on what our community needs next. It was a meaningful and engaging morning that highlighted the many ways women are leading, building, serving, and helping shape the future of the Truckee-Tahoe community.

Tahoe Ability Program 5K Inclusion Fusion Fundraiser

Join Tahoe Ability Program for a day dedicated to movement, inclusion, and community connection! Tahoe Ability Program is proud to host an all-abilities 5K along the scenic Legacy Trail, culminating in a vibrant lawn party at the Truckee Regional Park Upper Lawn. Run, walk, roll, or just come party!

This event is truly for all. You might be setting a personal best, strolling with friends, using an adaptive device, or skipping the trail altogether to head straight for the party; everyone has a place here!

Event Highlights: 5K, 1-mile fun run, live music, food trucks, beer on tap, and community tabling with local organizations

The Town wants to help everyone in Truckee benefit from cleaner, healthier, and more energy-efficient buildings, not just those who can afford upfront costs. They're developing a strategy to prioritize funding sources so that residents and businesses, especially those most impacted by high energy costs, can access upgrades that lower bills and improve comfort. It’s a roadmap for investing in climate solutions in a way that’s fair, inclusive, and community focused.

COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS: UNDER THE TRUCKEE TAHOE STARS

Join the Truckee Chamber, Tahoe Star Tours, and Truckee Cultural District (TCD) for a special Community Connections evening beneath the incredible Tahoe night sky, as part of the Keep It Dark Astrotourism Weekend, a fun collaboration by the Town of Truckee, Visit Truckee-Tahoe and TCD to raise awareness about the beauty and importance of dark skies!

We’ll head to Northstar for an unforgettable evening of stargazing and exploration with Tahoe Star Tours. Gather around the fire, learn about the wonders of the night sky, and discover the stories and science behind the stars. Then, experience the cosmos through powerful Celestron telescopes, with expert guides helping us explore distant stars, galaxies, star clusters, and nebulae.

This special evening is an opportunity to slow down, look up, and connect with our community while experiencing one of the most spectacular natural resources we have right here in Tahoe—the night sky.

We’re excited to partner with Tahoe Star Tours and Truckee Cultural District, a program of Nevada County Arts Council, to bring this unique experience to our community to launch the Keep It Dark Astrotourism Weekend, with many events, including a reception announcing the Keep It Dark photo contest winners.

Volunteer at the Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk & Shop

Saturday, October 3, 2026 | 12:00 - 4:00 p.m.

The 23rd Annual Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk & Shop returns Saturday, Oct. 3, from noon to 4:00 p.m., and volunteers are needed to help bring the event to life.

Lend a hand with registration, wine pouring, setup or cleanup during a three-hour shift, then enjoy the rest of the event with a complimentary ticket. Shifts are available from 11:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. and 2:00 - 5:00 p.m.

The Wine Walk brings nearly 1,000 locals and visitors to downtown Truckee for an afternoon of wine tasting, culinary sampling and shopping at 30+ participating venues. Next Level Leadership Registration Is Open!

Next Cohort - October 6, 2026 - April 6, 2027

Great leaders never stop learning. As your leadership responsibilities grow, so do the challenges: communicating with different personalities, navigating difficult conversations, building stronger relationships, and leading with greater confidence and intention.

Next Level Leadership, led by Susan Giacobazzi of Work Well Co., is a cohort-based leadership development program in Truckee for managers, supervisors, directors, and current leaders ready to keep growing.

Over 10 group sessions, participants work on real leadership situations while gaining practical tools they can immediately bring back to their teams. The program also includes four hours of individual coaching, CliftonStrengths®, 7 Frequencies of Communication™ and Values Bridge assessments, and a small cohort of growth-minded local leaders learning alongside one another.

The next cohort begins October 6 in Truckee, and registration is now open. Space is intentionally limited.

A Liar's Cruise

Saturday, October 3, 2026 | 3:30 - 6:00 p.m.

Welcome autumn with Sierra State Park Foundation's 12th Annual A Liar's Cruise, benefiting Sierra State Park's programs! Enjoy spellbinding stories (true or false, you decide!), free-flowing fine wine by Highway 12 Winery, and endless appetizers. A cash bar will also be available.

A live auction of marvelous treasures and experiences will be offered, benefiting the Sierra State Parks Foundation.

Seating is limited, and reservations are required. Tickets are $85 ($75 donors), which includes the cruise, multiple entertaining speakers, heavy appetizers, and wine.

Reserve Your Winter Workspace Near Palisades

Need some desk space close to skiing this winter? The Shack is a coworking at the bottom of Olympic Valley Rd near Palisades. They're offering six-month winter memberships beginning December 1.

Fixed Desks are available for $300/month and Flex Desks for $180/month. Members can also start earlier, with early Fixed Desk members receiving first choice of available desks.

A $99 deposit reserves your membership and is credited toward your first month. You’ll also receive one complimentary guest day pass.

Winter space is limited, so reserve early if you know you’ll need a reliable place to work.

Request for Proposals: Property Management and Maintenance Services

Sierra Community House and Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation are jointly seeking a qualified vendor to provide property management and maintenance services across three properties in the North Lake Tahoe/Truckee area.

This RFP covers one location requiring full-service property management and two locations requiring maintenance, repair, and subcontractor management support. Vendors must submit a single proposal covering all three properties.

Timeline:

RFP release date: September 15, 2026
Deadline for vendor questions: September 26, 2026
Proposal submission deadline: October 13, 2026
Anticipated vendor selection/award: October 27, 2026
Anticipated contract start date: November 16, 2026
