2018 JOHN NEWTON AWARD OF EXCELLENCE NOMINATIONS SOUGHT
John Newton was not only a Char-Em United Way board member and president, but he also volunteered his time and talents for many other local organizations.  Unfortunately, his term with Char-Em United Way ended when he suffered massive injuries from a car accident in September 2000.

Char-Em United Way created the John Newton Award of Excellence in 2002 to commemorate John's life and the gifts he gave to our community. The award is given each year to both an individual and an organization who, through their actions, give significantly to the health and human services in Charlevoix and Emmet counties.

To make a nomination, call 231.487.1006, or visit our website at charemunitedway.org  and follow the link to nominate online.  Nominations close on May 18, 2018.
NOW ACCEPTING CAMEL SPONSORS
The popular Charlevoix Camel Cup is back for the third year and will take place on May 5, 2018 from noon-6:00pm.  The Camel Cup is a giant gameboard race where the dice are rolled and the corresponding camel moves forward on the board.  The camel that makes it to the end first wins and money is paid to those betting on that camel.  There are 6 races before the final race where the six largest earning camels compete for the coveted Camel Cup.  All proceeds raised fund the Bridge Drop New Year's Eve celebration.  Have fun while raising funds!

This year Charlevoix businesses, clubs or service groups can sponsor a camel for $200 and get $50 in camel bucks to use on the day of the event.  This is a great team building opportunity for coworkers!

Give back to the community while betting on your camel and potentially winning some cold hard cash!

To sponsor a camel or to get more details email amanda@visitcharlevoix.com
