GIVE TO LIFT
Help Forklift Help Neighbors In Need

On Thanksgiving, it's traditional to give thanks for all that we have - our friends and family, and the food in front of us. But have you ever thought to give thanks for the kitchen in which the food was prepared?

For some in our community, kitchen appliances are a luxury. A once-working stove or fridge goes bad, and the funds to buy a new or used one just aren't there.

Since 2011, Forklift has provided over $123,000 in free home goods to neighbors in need. We have given hundreds of free appliances to families, seniors, and other individuals who needed a stove, a fridge, a washer, an air conditioner, or any number of other necessities.

Recently, one family of seven had to good fortune to inherit a family home after leaving a homeless shelter. But the house wasn't in good condition and the family didn't have the funds to pay rent somewhere else. Forklift's Home Essentials program provided a free refrigerator, electric stove and dishwasher.

Mom said, "This house is the only thing that keeps us off the streets. I am looking for work but we really need help to get back on our feet. I just want a safe and healthy place where my kids feel happy to live and have friends over. You have helped my family so much, you have no idea what this donation means for us."

And you make all the difference.
When you give to the Forklift (by making a financial contribution, or by donating good working appliances and other home goods), you are helping us to save precious resources from the landfill, and to turn those resources into valuable donations to neighbors who need them most.

Make a secure, tax-deductible  donation online
or mail a check to  Community Forklift,
4671 Tanglewood Drive,  Edmonston, MD 20781

P.S. - we have more families on our waiting list and your financial contribution will help us get them help even more quickly...
and remember, our program helps LOCAL neighbors in need. Your support really helps folks who live right here in our community.

Do you know someone who would love a Community Forklift gift card? You can order one online or pick up one in the store.  How about a t-shirt? By Green Friday, we'll be fully stocked with small through 3x (in both mens and misses sizing).

Plakookee is a collaboration between artists Rachel Debuque and Justin Plakas. Their projects span across design, sculpture, installation, constructed photography and time-based art work. Their work, together and independently, has been exhibited and screened in spaces across the U.S. and internationally. At this event, they will be debuting a series of prints photographed with Community Forklift items. A portion of the proceeds will benefit our Home Essentials program for neighbors in need.

Angie specializes in Move In, New Home, Corporate Outreach, Resident Retention, and Look and Lease Incentives. Locally owned and operated, she strives for quality and guaranteed satisfaction! She will have some of her woodworking projects to sell at the event.

Visit SallyAnn Rogers to see her selection of beaded jewelry using glass beads, stones, wire, beach glass, pot sherds, stained glass, watercolor paper to make many different kinds of pieces.

Caitlin currently uses old wooden things, vintage housewares and driftwood, as her "canvas" for paint and decoupage, the latter which is often saved, collected and upcycled paper or fabric.

Mary is a watercolorist who uses a lot of pen and ink in her work. She takes a subject and creates with color and skies and time of the year.

Delia has a lovely selection of miniature oil paintings but also has notecards, handmade pins and several larger paintings and sculpture.

Joe will be part of the event this year with his cryptic style paintings often depicting iconic Madonnas, beast-like creatures, and, sometimes, darkly (and often female) religious images. However, the viewer should not miss Roger's unique sense of humor that peeks through it all.

Check out Kim's fantastic collection of stained glass and beaded jewelry.

Munir utilizes a wood-burning forge to create his handmade blades using traditional techniques and reclaimed materials.

Myeisha Paskel will have wide array of decorative scented candles made from soy- and vegatable-blended waxes.
