Happy Thanksgiving!

This Thanksgiving, I am truly thankful for my Tai Chi family. You're my kind of people. You understand my life mission of attempting to solve this Tai Chi puzzle that seems to get more unsolvable the more we learn it ๐Ÿ˜†. When I took over Aiping Tai Chi, we had 40 local students. We still have a handful of those OG students, but many of the students moved away due to various life changes. Two of those students are Patrick and Christine who moved to Portugal. They started a wonderful Tai Chi club in Portugal and extended the Aiping Tai Chi family over there. Patrick and Christine came back to CT for Thanksgiving and stopped in for classes. It was just like old times. That's what it means to be a family. We move apart, live separate lives, but when we get back together it's like no time passed since we last saw each other. We were chatting about having a Portugal retreat in 2026. I'm planning a Taiwan retreat for October 2025. What do you guys think about a Portugal retreat for October 2026?

Although we only have a handful of the original 40 students remaining from 2017, our Tai Chi family has now grown to encompass a global community in a away I couldn't even fathom when I first took over the school. It never stops amazing me that people from all over the world want to geek out with me on the deeper levels of understanding Tai Chi movement. I am truly grateful for all of you on this journey with me and your patience, understanding and appreciation of my own evolution in my training. One promise I will never break is whatever I learn that enhances my own understanding and skills, I will share with my students.

I mentioned before that 2024 was an exceptionally challenging year for me personally. I have often said Tai Chi is stressbending and I definitely put that up to the test this year. My training and my time spent with my Tai Chi family have been a great source of strength through the challenging times. I am so thankful for you all on this Thanksgiving Day!

Take care,

Shirley

Scenes from Rhode Island Comicon

Every year I take my daughter and her friends to Rhode Island Comicon. We love anime, cosplay and comicons. I think my metal fans would be great for cosplay but needed to know if they would pass through comicon security so I tested it out. Watch me bring the fans into Rhode Island Comicon :)
