Grade Level Newsletters:

Grade level newsletters will not be sent this week due to the holiday break. They will be sent again in our December 6th Weekly Wolf Newsletter. All teachers are wishing your student a healthy and deserved break from their chromebook.
BHMS Black Parent Advisory Committee Information Session:

Tuesday December 15, 2020
6:00-7:00pm

This event will be held virtually. Please click this zoom link to join.

Please join Interim Principal, Sarah Ouzounian, and Dean of Students, Deidre Green, as we share information about our new Black Parent/Guardian Advisory Committee at Black Hawk. This information session will be a time for us to share our goals for the group, time commitment of the group, hear parent desires for the group, and provide an opportunity for questions and answers. All Black Parents/Guardians of Black Students are welcome!
If you are unable to attend this meeting, but are interested in learning more please email Sarah or Deidre.

Our artists have been busy lately! Please see the attached for an amazing slide show of some of their most recent work.
Pathways, DLI and AVID in High School:

At the end of December, students will start learning about high school options in Advisory! There are multiple Support Networks available for students as they enter 9th grade at East. AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), Pathways, and the DLI (Dual Language Immersion) Program are options for students. Check out the flyer for more information and different options.
Yearbook News:

BHMS will be putting together a yearbook this year! See the attached for information on cost, how to purchase and possible scholarships for a free yearbook.
6th Grade Poems:

Our 6th graders have been busy learning about figurative language in a poem in their ELA classes. The students were asked to demonstrate their understanding by writing a poem about something that was meaningful to them. Click here to read some of their work.
6th Grade Science Material Pickup:

There will be a Science Materials pick up on Tuesday, Dec. 1 (3-4pm) and Wednesday, Dec. 2 (10am-5pm). If you haven't already, please fill out the permission form: 6th Grade Science Q2 Lab Permission Form

Library Book Pickup at Black Hawk:
Badger Precollege Online:

Badger Precollege is pleased to offer engaging online courses to students in grades 1-12.

Each live online course meets for one to two weeks and includes high-quality educational and social content to help prepare students for the college experience — all backed by the academic reputation of the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

Classes are offered synchronously, meaning that students are together in the same virtual classroom at the same time. Along with synchronous instruction, courses include homework to be completed outside of class. Check out the Badger Precollege Website here for more information!
