Fundraiser for family affected by fire in Rockville


Please consider making a donation to Carlos Peres, and his family including three children, ages 15, 3, and 4 months, who were able to escape the fire, but are now displaced from their home and lost all their belongings. They are in need of items like clothing, furniture, diapers, and formula.

Free Tax Help Available from VITA Program for Low-to-Moderate Income Residents

Low-to-moderate income Montgomery County residents may be eligible for free tax income tax preparation assistance from the Community Action Agency’s (CAA) Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) partnership. VITA hosts tax preparation assistance for households earning $60,000 or less. Read more.

Council Invites Montgomery County Residents to Hybrid Community Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 7 pm

The Montgomery County Council will hold a hybrid town hall meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Lakelands Park Middle School, which is located at 1200 Main St. in Gaithersburg. 

Councilmembers have scheduled this time to answer questions and listen to concerns from community members. Some of the topics for discussion will include public safety, public health, housing and transportation, and other issues of community concern. 

The hybrid town hall will have an option to participate virtually through a Zoom webinar. Spanish language interpretation will be available both in-person and virtually. Interpretation in other languages is available upon request with at least three working days' notice. 

Community members must register ahead of time to participate in the virtual town hall through Zoom at https://bit.ly/TownHall-Feb15. The Council must receive your registration by Monday, Feb. 13 at 10 a.m. Residents will receive an email confirmation with the appropriate Zoom information to participate. Residents without internet access can call 240-777-7832 and leave a message to register. 

The hybrid town hall meeting will be televised on County Cable Montgomery on channels 30 (Fios), 1056 (RCN) and 996 (Xfinity). The meeting will be streamed on Facebook (MontgomeryCountyMdCouncil) and YouTube (MoCoCouncilMd).

Grants Program for Artists in Maryland Open

Placed Based Management Grant to Support Business Districts and Business Corridors



Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich and the Montgomery County Council are seeking non-profit applicants for a new grant program funding placed based management supporting economic development and tourism in business districts and in urban corridors with significant business and retail offerings in areas of Montgomery County.

 

Award sizes will vary with a minimum award of $25,000 and a maximum award of $200,000. The grant will be awarded for up to a one year. Programs must be run and be evaluated during this period.

 

The Place Based Management grant’s success will be evaluated by dollars reinvested in Montgomery County, buildings rehabilitated, net gain in jobs, and net gain in businesses. There is a preference given to non-profit organizations with a history of equity, diversity, and inclusion in their programming background.

 

Key Dates:

 

  • Applications Open: Monday January 9, 2023 at 10:00 AM
  • Application Deadline: Monday February 16, 2023 at 10:00 AM
  • An online information session for the grant program will be Friday January 13, 2023 from 1:30 to 3:00 PM. (the link to and a recording of the event will be posted on the online application platform).

Nonprofit Community Grant and Grants Management Reform Survey


The Office of Grants Management (OGM) is seeking feedback from the County's nonprofit community to help reshape the Community Grants program and other grants management practices. The goals of this survey are to:

  • Guide reforms of the Community Grants structure, process, timeline, and goals; 
  • Inform the development of the County’s competitive grant program regulations, policies, procedures, & support resources;
  • Inform the development of the County’s grant agreement regulations, policies, procedures, and support resources; and
  • Gain a broader understanding of the needs of our nonprofit partners to make the grants transition a success.

OGM requests one response per organization so please coordinate feedback within your organization and then submit a response. The survey will close Thursday February 16, 2023 at 9:00 AM.
