There will be special book launches focusing on different aspects of the book. A session on Black film exhibition (Birth of Nation 1915 to Black Panther 2022) takes place at the BFI Southbank on Wednesday 9th November 6.30pm. Tickets HERE


The African Odysseys programme was set up by Black History Walks and other community activists in 2007. It is now in its 15th year and recently screened the Walter Rodney story to a 450 strong audience. It is the only such programme in the country. There is a chapter in our book about it an the many obstacles Black films have to go through to be seen even after they are made

Above: Our GCSE text book based on our Notting Hill walk is doing well in schools with teachers reporting increased enthusiasm and sign up. For the first time at this level pupils are learning about Black British Civil Rights, Caribbean Self Defence groups, 'Pardner/Sou Sou', Frank Chrichlow, Darcus Howe, Claudia Jones, Althea Jones Lecointe, Duke Vin, The Black Peoples Day of Action, the Mangrove 9 and much more.
