I just wanted to thank the staff for assisting me getting my COVID test on December 25th. Because it was a holiday, I was nervous that I would be unable to find somewhere to get the test. The staff called the normal place which was closed and instructed me to go to the hospital and called the taxi and explained the situation! Thanks for always making it a pleasure to stay at the one and only Blackbeard!

Blackbeards Management, Staff, and Crew,

I just wanted to thank you for another great vacation, here in the Dominican Republic.  Since I started coming here in 2012 (too many trips to count), I am always amazed at how friendly and accommodating the staff is. Year after year, trip after trip it is always a great experience to be here!

I wake up each morning and am greeted with nothing but smiles and friendly “Buenos Dios” comments from everyone I interact with and happen to pass by.  Your staff of bartenders and servers are top notch; thanks to all (Monica, Ruth, Adrianna, Denise, Damaris and Jessica) these ladies always make me feel like more than just a guest or a customer.  They make me feel like an old friend they are welcoming back!

The cleaning ladies are always so nice; everyday smiling and freshening up the rooms and getting laundry taken care of. It is impossible to pass one of these ladies in the hallway or on the property and not be greeted with a warm smile and a friendly greeting.  Just a wonderful and accommodating group of ladies, who make everyone feel welcome. 

I also just wanted to make sure that Hilda and Crystal know how much they are appreciated.  They always ask how I am doing, and they never miss a chance to say hello or flash a friendly smile.  They and the shipmates are a great group of people that work hard to make coming back here an incredible experience, year after year.  It is simply impossible to have a bad day at Blackbeards resort!

Lastly, I wanted to thank the Management staff; Martha, Nico, and Daniel for working with me and being so accommodating with my flight disruptions and delays.  Also, Daniel really helped me out with an unexpected/last minute business transaction back in the States; accommodating my request to print off, scan and e-mail some documents.  I appreciate all you do to keep things here running smoothly and consistently year after year.  This little hotel and your staff could teach some of the large hotel chains a thing or two about customer service and hospitality.

Effective December 6, 2021 all air travelers 2 years and older are required to show a negative pre-departure COVID-19 viral test taken the day before they board their flight to the United States, regardless of vaccination status or nationality. You must show your negative result to the airline before you board your flight.

All guests can get this test at Laboratorio Cubanor in Puerto Plata — Antigen test for COVID is $45 or 2500 peso RD — takes one hour for the results — all guests from Blackbeards will be taken care of right away.

If you recently recovered from COVID-19, you may instead travel with documentation of recovery from COVID-19 (i.e., your positive COVID-19 viral test result on a sample taken no more than 90 days before the flight’s departure from a foreign country, and a letter from a licensed healthcare provider or a public health official stating that you were cleared to travel).

Currently it is not necessary to present vaccination cards, or negative tests for COVID-19 to enter the Dominican Republic. Neither are these requirements necessary to be in hotels, or to take excursions. Random tests are carried out at the airports upon entry to the country.

To enter establishments outside hotels, such as bars, restaurants, shops and other closed establishments, the presentation of a vaccination card is required.

The dust has settled between the deck planks of this Holiday season. It's time to get underway . . . making plans to sail with us soon.

Upcoming events include Super Bowl (Shipmate cheerleaders) and Valentine’s Day (GFE) in February and St. Patrick's Day (Lucky Pirates) in March. These are all good reasons to sail early in 2022.
