February 2022 Meeting Plans
The Presbytery Assembly Planning Committee is excitedly planning our return to an in-person presbytery meeting in April, 2022. In the meantime, using the Zoom platform for our February 8 meeting allows us to eliminate severe weather concerns and explore a flexible meeting time. This may enable more of our working and younger elders to be part of the Presbytery Assembly. With this in mind, please respond to the following polls so that your preference may be considered in our planning process.
|
Q1 If you never or rarely attend Assembly, would you attend (on zoom) at an alternate time?
|
|
|
Q2 For all, regular or potential, what is your first choice for a Feb. 8 meeting on Zoom?

MATTHEW 25 IN ACTION
Following the recent address to the September Blackhawk Assembly by Rev. Denise Anderson, Ridgefield-Crystal Lake Presbyterian decided to reprise the presentation and discussion for their own congregation. They featured the video of Rev. Anderson’s message in an Adult Education event following worship. It was a hybrid event, with some remaining in the sanctuary and others who worshiped from outside the church via Zoom. Approximately 30 attended and all were able to participate in discussion that followed. Discussion focused on the question, “Who would be the dearest to Jesus, the least of us in our community?” Participants identified the elderly, the impoverished, and the marginalized, including Hispanics and LGBTQI+ communities. Following the discussion, three congregation members expressed an interest in being part of their M25 task force.
Matthew 25 was also the focus of their annual joint meeting of Session and Deacons, specifically Jesus' charge to churches to listen, learn and act to correct injustices to the least of us. The lively discussion began that day is ongoing.

We are often faced with the lure of division: dividing communities into "us" and "them." But we have the ability to break down these walls that have been building for centuries. Implementing the PCUSA Store's resources below can allow preachers, teachers, and church members to look beyond themselves and work toward becoming one community.

Presbytery of Blackhawk
Our Vision and Values
Grounded in the biblical image for human community, as disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ, we challenge and support congregations to be thriving faith communities by facilitating competent leadership and resourcing to energize ministry and mission.
As Christians, guided by the principles of love, trust, open communication, and genuine relationships, we value each other as sisters and brothers in faith in all our varied theological understandings. Therefore, we relish respectful discussions of differing opinions as a necessary part of discerning the will of God.
