Leadership Change at the Presbytery
Beginning this week, Rev. Eric Heinekamp begins his new role as Transformational General Presbyter in addition to Stated Clerk, which is ongoing. We look forward to his guidance and unique perspective in the many ways the Presbytery connects with churches, pastors, committees and lay leaders. As Eric steps away from parish ministry at Bolingbrook First of DuPage and staff positions at the Presbytery of Chicago, we pray for everyone adjusting to these transitions.
A special thank you to Rev. Nancy Dolan who thoroughly invested her time and talents while serving Blackhawk for four interesting and challenging months. Despite no in-person contact, Nancy connected with many of us and we are grateful. She submitted a final report to the Presbytery Council last week - we invite you to read, share and be inspired by her message for us.

Church World Service Kits
The 2020 Kits challenge to Blackhawk churches is to make at least 35 school kits, 10 Hygiene Kits and 2 clean-up buckets. There is great need for Hygiene kits and clean-up buckets at this time. As always, any and all kits are appreciated. CWS is so grateful to all who keep making the kits, filling their warehouses, so when the need arises the kits can be shipped.
January-June 2020 CWS distributions:
In the USA – 20,428 / Internationally – 19,522
TOTAL 39,950
Collection of the kits is scheduled for the November 10th Presbytery meeting scheduled for Ridgefield-Crystal Lake. If that meeting becomes virtual, churches will need to deliver their kits to
The Church of the Brethren Headquarters, 1451 Dundee Ave., Elgin, IL (just south of I-90 on Hwy. 25)
Remember to include the processing / shipping cost $2 per School & Hygiene Kits and $3 per clean-up bucket with your kits or mail directly to CWS Kit Program, 28606 Phillips St., PO Box 968, Elkhart, IN 46515-0968

Christian Educators and Youth Leaders
Swap Ideas / Share Concerns
Thank you to those who attended the second zoom gathering for CE and youth leaders in the Presbytery. It was a time to share ideas and plans and express frustrations with this stifling pandemic. Like pastors, our education folks need support and encouragement too.
Thank you also to Barbara D’Souza, for shepherding this group and for writing this synopsis.
The group has decided to continue to meet, scheduling the next meeting for Tuesday, September 22 at 7:00 pm also on zoom. If you have yet to join us, please consider it. We were done in under an hour and it certainly reminds us that we are not alone in this important work.

You can view all 96 recordings of our conference content whenever you like – including Worship, Routley Lectures, Art Workshop, Concerts, Choral & Handbell Masterclasses, Programs for Children/Youth, and much more! These recordings demonstrate what physically distant worship can look like and can help supplement your church’s programming for the fall, especially during the current situation in our country.

Presbytery of Blackhawk
Our Vision and Values
Grounded in the biblical image for human community, as disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ, we challenge and support congregations to be thriving faith communities by facilitating competent leadership and resourcing to energize ministry and mission.
As Christians, guided by the principles of love, trust, open communication, and genuine relationships, we value each other as sisters and brothers in faith in all our varied theological understandings. Therefore, we relish respectful discussions of differing opinions as a necessary part of discerning the will of God.
