Okeene's Own Avery Fisher Honored at 105th State 4-H Roundup Event

Avery Fisher was recognized for her achievements in 4-H at the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma Honor Night assembly during the 105th State 4-H Roundup at Oklahoma State University.

Avery was awarded several scholarships, including the $4,500 Barnes Family Endowment, sponsored by the Barnes Family Endowment; the $2,500 Harold and Edith Shaw Memorial Endowment, sponsored by the Harold and Edith Shaw Memorial Endowment; and the $1,500 Dana Smith Memorial Scholarship, sponsored by the McBroom-Sanders Endowment. She also was named a member of the Blue Award Group.

She is a member of the Okeene 4-H Club where she was active in the food science project. She also served as a state 4-H ambassador. During her nine-year 4-H career, she taught more than 90 workshops and volunteered over 400 hours. Her favorite projects include teaching youth about where their food comes from and how to eat healthy.

“I’m most proud of helping with my local food pantry,” she said. “I’ve helped collect food, stock shelves and greet patrons. I love creating recipes for them to use with the pantry ingredients. I’ve also donated over 800 pounds of ground beef from my own herd.”

In addition to her 4-H activities, Fisher was a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council and FFA.



She is a 2026 graduate of Okeene High School and will attend OSU this fall. She plans to major in agricultural education. She is the daughter of Clayton and Tara Fisher.

In total, Oklahoma 4-H’ers received $243,400 in scholarships thanks to the generosity of donors and supporters of Oklahoma 4-H. Of that amount, $103,300 was awarded through the OSU Foundation, and $140,100 was awarded through the Oklahoma 4-H Foundation.

The Quad-County 4-H Camp brought together youth from Blaine, Custer, Garfield, and Kingfisher Counties for a three-day learning experience at Canyon Camp in Hinton, Oklahoma, July 8-10, 2026.

Blaine County Extension Director and 4-H Educator Hagen Puentes attended the camp as both a counselor and chaperone for Blaine County youth, providing leadership, mentorship, and supervision throughout the event. Guided by the theme, "Life is Better at 4-H Camp," campers participated in educational and recreational activities that promoted leadership, teamwork, personal responsibility, and relationship building.

The new camp location provided enhanced facilities and opportunities for hands-on learning while fostering the 4-H mission of developing confident, capable, and engaged young people. Through shared

experiences, outdoor adventures, and meaningful connections with peers and volunteer leaders, participants strengthened life skills and created lasting memories in a positive, supportive environment.

4-H Roundup Serves Up Lifelong Skills

Blaine County 4-H members attended Oklahoma 4-H Roundup in Stillwater, where they joined youth from across the state for three days of leadership development, educational workshops, competitive events, and networking opportunities. Blaine County Extension Director and 4-H Educator Hagen Puentes served as the chaperone for the delegation, providing guidance and

support throughout the event.

Participants represented Blaine County with professionalism, enthusiasm, and strong 4-H values while strengthening skills that will benefit them in their future academic, personal, and career pursuits.

This year's Roundup also marked the final State 4-H Roundup for Blaine County member Avery Fisher. Throughout Avery's 4-H career, Avery has served as an exceptional ambassador for both Blaine County and the Oklahoma State 4-H Council, demonstrating outstanding leadership, service, and commitment to the 4-H program. Avery's contributions have had a positive and lasting impact on fellow members and the local 4-H program, leaving a legacy of leadership that will continue to inspire future generations of Blaine County 4-H youth.
