November NEWSLETTER | 2023
|
Beloved at Blair Road,
November is (especially) the season to be grateful and I am so thankful for you!
Your welcome has been wonderful and now I want to extend a welcome to YOU!
This coming Sunday, November 5 is All Saints Day – one of the most wonderful Sundays in the whole year. We will have worship full of the hope of God. I hope you will come.
FOLLOWING THE 11:11 Service, I am inviting you to LUNCH in the Fellowship Room in the Christian Life Center. (around 12:15). There will be a light lunch provided. Sunday is Announcement Sunday for appointments and I will be sharing more about the pastoral appointment for Blair Road. This face-to-face time gives me an opportunity to answer your questions about the coming months. I really hope you will come. (Thank you to the Transition Council for providing the light lunch for us).
ALSO, I will be talking more about the future of Blair Road and why I believe this church has a vibrant future. Disaffiliation leaves churches wounded and there is no question that this church has been through a very hard time. But the future with the UMC is very bright indeed and I want a chance to say more about that! So please, join us for lunch this Sunday!
I know that after the 11:11 service is not convenient for those of you who attend the 8:45 Traditional Service. But, since we interrupted our Sunday School and small groups last week, I do not want to do that for two consecutive weeks. Those groups are too important. So, for this one Sunday, please make the effort to come and hear more about the future of the church.
God bless you, saints of Blair Road! Grace and peace. Blessings and prayers, Mary John

The Contemporary Service at 11:11 has adopted the following Song as their inspiration to Grow the Blair Road United Methodist Congregation!
Here in this worn and weary land
Where many a dream has died
Like a tree planted by the water
We never will run dry
So living water flowing through
God, we thirst for more of You
Fill our hearts and flood our souls with one desire
Just to know You and to make You known
We lift Your name on high
Shine like the sun, make darkness run and hide
We know we were made for so much more than ordinary lives
It's time for us to more than just survive
We were made to thrive
Into Your Word, we're digging deep
To know our Father's heart
Into the world, we're reaching out
To show them who You are
So living water flowing through
God, we thirst for more of You
Fill our hearts and flood our souls with one desire
Just to know You and to make You known
We lift Your name on high
Shine like the sun, make darkness run and hide
We know we were made for so much more than ordinary lives
It's time for us to more than just survive
We were made to thrive
Joy unspeakable, faith unsinkable
Love unstoppable, anything is possible
Joy unspeakable, faith unsinkable
Love unstoppable, anything is possible
Joy unspeakable, faith unsinkable
Love unstoppable, anything is possible
Joy unspeakable, faith unsinkable
Love unstoppable, anything is possible
Just to know You and to make You known
We lift Your name on high
Shine like the sun, make darkness run and hide
We know we were made for so much more than ordinary lives
It's time for us to more than just survive
We were made to thrive, hey
We were made to thrive

We continue to support the wonderful ministry at Servant’s Heart, a local assistance organization. We need unwrapped toys for children up to 12 years old (the older kids items are especially needed) and $25 gift cards from Target or Walmart. We need all donations no later than Dec. 11th but would prefer Dec. 5th. Bring items to the Family Life building and put gift cards in offering marked Servant’s Heart or give to Lynn Smith.
Blair Road UMC has a great opportunity to share Christmas Blessings with homeless students at Rocky River High School. You can partner with the Mission and Outreach Team as we give each student a stocking filled with toiletries, snacks, supplies, a gift card and, of course, lots of love!
This year, the mission team will supply the contents for each stocking. We are requesting gift cards ($25) for Target, Walmart, Chick-Fil-A, Applebee’s, etc. or folks can make a donation to the Rocky River High School account. We will need 48 gift cards for the stockings, which can be turned in to Lynn Smith by Dec. 11th. We are looking forward to sharing this blessing with the youth at Rocky River High School! Thanks, in advance, for your support and willingness to share the love of God this season!!
