Spring has finally sprung! As we spring ahead, we continue to find great examples of how Santa Maria assisted families in 2020.

  • Santa Maria helped 40 students in grades K-8 build academic and social emotional skills.
  • 119 families increased their household income.
  • 185 families maintained stable housing in 2020.
  • 113 people received job skills training.
  • 149 individuals had employment barriers removed.
  • 90 people obtained employment with the help of Santa Maria.
  • 91% of our GED students earned a high school equivalency diploma.

These outcomes are a great reason to celebrate this spring! Our impact report for 2020 is coming soon!

We are also bidding farewell to a dear friend and colleague, Blair Schoen, who is retiring after 43 years of service to the Price Hill Community. Blair Schoen has been my colleague and advisor for nearly 37 of her 43+ years at Santa Maria. We owe much of Santa Maria’s success in recent decades to the leadership and guidance she has given to all of our programs. Blair has demonstrated the heart and determination that has helped countless thousands of families both directly and indirectly. Blair’s work has strengthened Santa Maria Community Services and the Price Hill community. Santa Maria Vice President and Associate Director, Blair Schoen, Retires After 43 Years of Service to the Price Hill Community
In October 1977, Blair Schoen had just finished a stint as a Volunteers In Service To America (VISTA) worker doing community organizing in the East End. She had a toddler at home and wanted to work as an advocate for adolescents. She had lost her younger sister to a drug overdose and wanted to do what she could for other teenagers who were facing similar troubles. In November, she began working at Santa Maria Community Services’ Lower Price Hill Family Center (which is now the Joe Williams Family Center - in a new location in Lower Price Hill).

  2. On a PC, go under ACCOUNTS AND LISTS and click ACCOUNT - then select CHANGE YOUR AMAZONSMILE CHARITY. (From a mobile browser, select CHANGE YOUR CHARITY from the options at the bottom of the page.)
  3. Search for and select Santa Maria Community Services.

Health Fair
Santa Maria is proud to present its Health Fair at the Price Hill Recreation Center on Saturday, April 24, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.! See above if you'd like to volunteer. We are hoping to offer COVID-19 vaccines as well. We are working with the Cincinnati Health Department to make that happen! Setting The Table
Setting The Table is our FREE online event that is a precursor for our fall fundraiser, The Sharing Table. At Setting The Table, you will be able to watch video interviews, check out a recipe swap, donate, and buy raffle tickets.
