This shoot is dedicated to Buster Day. Buster, was an avid hunter and clay shooter. Buster owned the land that Silver Willow is located on, and he was Don's Dad and Josh's Grandpa.
If you haven't noticed it before, there is a memorial plaque which is located between the green course station 10 and the duck pond.
We are always happy to see how many shooters come out every year in honor of Buster.
Our Gold Medal High Overall Winner of the Buster Day shoot

Our congratulations goes out to Wayne.

Ladies Learn to Shoot - Sept 24, 2017 |
This was a wonderful sold out event once again this year. We had ladies who came out to experience the fun and excitement of shooting Sporting Clays for the very first time and also ladies who had such a good time at our spring event that they returned for our fall - semi annual Ladies Learn to Shoot. It was an all day affair starting with breakfast, safety orientation, shooting on the green course & a lovely buffet lunch.
The afternoon featured all sorts of exciting door prizes. The "grand" door prize was a free private lesson with Luther Cutts. Following the morning activities the ladies were invited to participate in a little wine tasting from Bartier Brother Wines from Oliver BC while they enjoyed guest speakers Pat White and Denean Tomlin share about their shooting journey.

Farewell to Maija
This is h
ow we do a "send off" party for our long time hard working, faithful employee Maija.
We shoot with her at the
Duck Pond, of course ! She is
so well loved by our clients that they too wanted to come to the party, bring gifts, and
shoot with her.
Maija started at Silver Willow 5 years ago when she was in high school. From there she became our full time outdoor grounds maintenance person. She has ful
filled
that role for the last 4 years. There is nothing this girl can't do, build stands, mechanical repairs, the roof on the cookhouse, wooden walkways, stain. No matter what the weather, Maija is out there tough as nails. She sure has left her mark on Silver Willow! She has been like one of our own, we are proud of her and this new adventure she's taken on.
Maija is off to further her education in the big city and man will we miss her!
God Bless you Maija and guide your every step!
Our New Staff, Jessica and Amy

Amy (on the left) and Jessica (on the right) |
Welcome Jessica
Jessica started working for Silver Willow way back in February. She completed some behind the scenes projects for the club, some of you might have met her then.
In July Jessica, returned to Silver Willow in a part time capacity to assist Gene with Corporate and Group Events.
When Pat broke her ankle at the end of July, Jessica willing moved into the client reception position. Jessica has already demonstrated her flexibility and commitment to many of the positions here at Silver Willow.
No matter what the task Jessica takes it on with a beautiful smile, great attitude and happy demeanor.
What Jessica like best about working at Silver Willow are the clients. Everyone one is always HAPPY to be at Silver Willow. Makes for a very pleasant place to work when the clients are excited about their experience.
Jessica has not yet settled on a "Bucket List" she still needs time to ponder what she would like to do & see in her future.
Welcome Amy
Meet Amy
, she's a local lady who has just joined our SW team in Client Reception.
You'll enjoy her enthusiasm and willingness to learn all aspects about Silver Willow.
Amy loves nature and in her spare time she really enjoys taking pictures of the outdoors & enjoys painting.
The best thing about working at Silver Willow are the people by far, both the staff and the clientele alike. She also really enjoys the natural setting that Silver Willow offers. It is so beautiful and serine. It is a little bit of paradise not far from the Big City.
"Bucket List"
Amy would like to travel the world with her family.

Different Kinds of Shotguns
Shotguns can be found in a bewildering range of types, designs, sizes and prices. In this installment, we will examine the various types of shotguns commonly encountered in Canada.
All shotguns found in Canada consist of three fundamental parts - the stock, the action and the barrel. The stock is what we hold onto when using the shotgun, while the action is the part of the shotgun that moves cartridges into position and discharges the shotgun. The barrel is a steel tube that contains the pressure generated by the cartridge and directs the shot stream or slug out of the muzzle. There are essentially five types of shotgun actions, namely, the single shot, the bolt action, the pump action, the semi-automatic and the two-barrel models. Of these, only the last three are commonly encountered in the clay target games.
We will examine each type individually, describing them and briefly touching upon both their appealing characteristics as well as some of the challenges they present.

"Caring is the soul of gardening. Life is that way too. With our families, our work, even our hobbies, we do our best, but can only do so much. We take risks and place our trust in factors beyond our control. Yet in the end, we are almost always rewarded with a beautiful harvest."
